Heard so many negative things took us months to try! Ernie our waiter was great!!! Hubby says wings were best he’s had in a long time! Complimentary rolls were doughy! I had a BLT which was good (hard to mess up a BLT!). I did think $7.99 was high for a BLT considering no chips or fries were included. Will def come again!

Had steak and scrambled eggs for breakfast, everything was okay, kinda disappointed about the steak tips, they were tough and tasteless. Didn’t have the option for lunch, gave us breakfast menus only, but the manager gave us a 20 dollar gift card on next purchase, But everything else was great, good service and very clean. Also had a bloody Mary, it was beautifully made, but so hot thank gosh I had sweet tea.

We’ve been here 2 times now. First just a few weeks after they opened and they were still working out kinks so we waited 2 ½ hours for food. HOWEVER we didn’t give up on them and returned several weeks later and WOW! WHAT A CHANGE! We were seated, took 7 mins for someone to get our drink order but it was ok because we were looking at the menu. Got our drinks in 7 mins, appetizer(I HIGHLY recommend the loaded chips!!!! Oh my goodness were they good!! Chips were evenly cooked and EVERY ONE was crunchy like kettle chips! Not one soft spot in the bunch and cooked perfect, none were over cooked!) came by 12 minutes, salads 15 mins and our steaks and other side in 25 minutes. We got sirloin steak which I hear have now been pulled from the menu, but I ordered medium and my friend ordered well done. Both came well done. No steak knife only a butter knife? Hum..however I don’t know how the cook did it, but even the well done steaks were tender enough to easily cut with the butter knife! And they melted in your mouth and were NOT chewy and hard! Wow! I had the English potatoes(yum!) And my friend had the green beans(she said they were good just a little too much onion).

Everything was wonderful on Saturday. The server was a very young girl with a long blonde ponytail. She did an excellent job. She was professional and polite. I am going back on Sunday 8/6/23 to have brunch and celebrate my birthday with friends and family. Thank you to your entire staff for making our first time experience so perfect. I’m excited to return this Sunday

We stopped in kind of late for dinner. The service was top notch. The food was fresh, even late. We had an appetizer & dinners, not quick food. It is nice to have a place at Elkview where we can get an actual meal. Great place, great food!

Keely was outstanding. Excellent fried pickles. Cajun Chicken and Shrimp Pasta was good but needed more sauce in the noodles and Cajun seasoning. The rolls were alittle dry. We’ll be back soon.

Food was excellent. Nothing spectacular but it’s great quality country cooking. Entree portions are massive. Definitely get your moneys worth. Chicken cooked to perfection. Not a dry piece on my plate. Food came out really fast. Only took 15 minutes for a table of 8 to get all their food. Best part was our waitress Emilie M. She came back often, refilled drinks without the need to ask, cracked the occasional joke, and was just genuinely pleasant. A good waitress like Emilie can really make a difference at any restaurant. I’ll definitely go back.

Took my mother here for her birthday dinner. The steak tips were delicious and melt in your mouth tender. Mom really enjoyed the whitefish platter. She said the batter was crispy and not dripping in grease. The wings were also very good. I think the prices are pretty reasonable considering the portion size and the quality of the food.

So this review will not be the last one for Hens and Heifers. The first time going was great the only complaint was my steak was overcooked. I went back again with the whole family the day before my wedding and my now mother in law waited for an 1.5 hours and never got her food some other orders were pretty messed up as well. But I would like to give them another try and write a better review the next time. They are a newer company in town and could be working on finding the best people.

I have visited twice and think it’s great. I have 10 years restaurant experience so I know how difficult starting up can be. I wish people would understand the day any restaurant opens service takes a few days to get use to the way things flow, no restaurant can prepare for this so give it a break. Also, just because you have a Facebook account doesn’t make you a critic. I see some hard working people and my service was spot on considering the first week of opening. The atmosphere is beautiful and inviting, food choices are excellent with many of the dishes & side dishes are made from scratch, prices are also very reasonable. I’m glad to see another local spot open to show people that everything doesn’t always have to be Applebees or IHOP. Give them a try you will enjoy.
