Really enjoyed our stop here at the Whale in Haywood Commons. Stopped here for brunch and it was very good. We had the breakfast bowl and the biscuits and gravy. The “bowl” was a HUGE portion of tater tots. Gigantic! Easily shareable and very good. I also added bacon although it really didn’t need it.

There are not enough superlatives to describe how fantastic this place is! Flavor profiles that are unique and fresh, and a staff that is welcoming and warm. We had the Thai Buffalo Chicken sandwich with the cucumber salad, the Trout Melt, and something that is a must have, the Feta Fries. Everything was delicious from the first bite to the last!

The space is great for a large group given the extensive outdoor seating. Order at the counter and pick it up when it is ready, which makes the experience easier. The food is eclectic and excellent. The masala waffles are delicious and dense. The yogurt parfait has lots of fruit and granola.

Omg the food was so good. Everything was fresh and had immaculate flavor. Thankfully we came right before the line started. While in line they have handheld menus to look at. The place inside is pretty small for indoor seating but they have plenty of outside seating. They also had snoop dog vibes which was cool. It felt more urban than country. Oh we also got the chocolate chip cookie, i wasn’t too much of a fan bc it was kind of dry (i think it was gluten free) but everything else that was cooked was amazing. OH ALSO my boyfriend went to the restroom and saw that they provided baby wipes and tampons which had us in awe bc that’s so nice. We came here bc biscuit head had a super long line. Im glad we came here though. This place definitely deserves the hype

We ordered the smelly tuna poke Bowl. It was awful. The tuna smelled like low tide they masked the smell with vinegar. It looked great when it arrived at the table. The Animal Fries were a heart attack worth of fat. Never go back.

I can tell Haywood Commons is trying with their menu, offering interesting dishes with flavorful ingredients, but the final outcome was just ok for me.

Delicious breakfast! The breakfast sandwich was kind of small but I guess that’s how breakfast sandwiches are. It was very tasty though, as was everything we ordered. The sweet potato fries were good. The salad was bright and delicious. The breakfast tots were very cheesy and yummy. We were the only people in line so we came at the right time since I know other people have had time issues.

Recently shared a date night with my wife here and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the restaurant. Small yet comfortable interior with the perfect amount of ambiance. Wife had the Thai chicken sandwich while I enjoyed quite possibly the best chicken and waffles I’ve had! We shared the brussel sprouts which were cooked perfectly, and enjoyed a couple of local brews. Service is fast and super friendly! If at anytime you’re on Haywood Rd. in West Asheville this is a place NOT to be missed!

Haywood Common faces Haywood Road, but is also connected to the Whale Craft Beer Collective. You can order at the counter in Haywood Common and sit anywhere in their indoor space or the outdoor space they share with the Whale. They use a buzzer system so you know when your food is ready.
