For a $60 meal, we got two steak and cheeses (that weren’t correct, and weak, at best, and lacking the ingredients we asked for), and not even a dozen wings, that were dry and were overbaked, then doused with heavy seasoning. Onion rings were cold and mushy. Called in the order at 3:25. Was told a 35 min wait. At 4:30, it still wasn’t ready, until I went outside and called for a status update, and the lady said yes, it was there to be picked up. Our food had been sitting there for over 10 mins. Order was paid for in cash, and wasn’t even given the correct amount of change. Given that this is the second chance I’ve given them, I 1000% would NOT recommend them for food.

Had their special for dinner-pork chop and “real” mashed potatoes with gravy. I had one of their wraps and very tasty! Our server was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. Always have a great time when we go.

On New Year’s Day 2023 American Legion Riders from Post 82, La Plata, MD took our annual “Polar Bear Ride”. This year’s ride took us to Deale and Happy Harbor Restaurant. We had called ahead with an estimate of 15 for a late lunch but unseasonably warm, dry weather brought a stronger than usual turnout of 22 people. The staff at HHR didn’t bat an eye but led us to our tables on the porch. The two ladies who served is were super friendly and amazingly efficient. It didn’t faze them that we asked to pay seperate checks, seemed like just another day for them. They got our drinks out to us quickly. I was particularly impressed that they remembered who ordered what made sure we all got the correct drink.

Waited at a table for 25 minutes before someone asked if we’ve been waited on, said no. Then it was an additional 20 minutes before someone took our order, then she came back and told us they didn’t have pasta for the one order, and we literally waited 40 minutes for appetizers. They weren’t very busy but you would have thought they were over crowded times 3. Never again, sadly we choose this restaurant over a place that was of better service and food, just to try it out for a first time.

We went to this restaurant this summer when you could sit out on the dock. Overall, the atmosphere was nice and it was a cool way to enjoy some decent food. I ended up grabbing a catfish sub which tasted delicious, and my companion had the harbor wrap which looked ok; he didn’t really comment one way or the other. Overall, the service was average but a little slow sometimes requiring us to go inside to get beer refills. It’s worth a visit if you are in Deale and looking for a relaxed place to eat; the service won’t blow your socks off, but the food was good.

I ordered takeout, so I’ll limit my comments to the food itself. I had the country-fried steak, and while it was not what I have come to expect (thinner breading, un-tenderized meat) it was really good. The meat was a good cut, perfectly tender and perfectly cooked. Will return.
