We heard rumblings of this place for a couple years so it was much anticipated. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, and I can see why it took so long to open. We had dim sum (shrimp gao, pork pot stickers, ribs), and a few entrees. The ribs were actually delicious but the dim sum itself was a bit underwhelming in terms of flavor. Which is absolutely no excuse for the pricing. The general tso chicken was good but it was definitely on the salty side. It needed a more sweet flavor to it. The fried rice tasted super soy saucy, lacked a richness in flavor also but it wasn’t bad. Overall this place gives me more cocktail vibes rather than a true Chinese restaurant. Essentially it’s regular american Chinese food wrapped i na very fancy restaurant. It did not do it for me.

Don’t be fooled ….there is only one Chinese restaurant in Palm Beach that’s worthwhile and that’s Hai House.

We went to Hai House with another couple about 4 days after they opened. Ordered a lot of different things. Scallion Pancakes were very tasty but small. Not enough to share between 4 people. Mandarin Beef was just sliced steak not traditional style. Good but very expensive at $42. Tried a few other dishes including General Tso Chicken and enjoyed all. They needed more time to get their act together. We decided to go back a few weeks later and had a really different and good experience. Bao Buns, Spicy Shrimp Rolls, Dumplings, all excellent. Service was very good and we had an excellent meal. The food was very much improved and we will be back!

It was a great place to celebrate my birthday turn up. I’ve never experienced a high end restaurant on Palm Beach Island but I’m very happy and appreciative that Hai House was my first. I loved their Char Siu Ribs And House Wings. Everything was fresh and made to perfection. I also was very shocked when I tried their wontons. I never had them fresh before until I ate at Hai House. I usually get them at regular Chinese restaurants and they have nothing on Hai House.

We were all pretty disappointed with Hai House. While our waitress was nice, she was barely trained and did not listen very well. She did comp a drink when she messed up the order. Unfortunately, our waitress had no idea what liquor was behind bar (she thought Don Julio was a bourbon) and did not carry a spirit’s list. Further, she wasn’t well trained on the tastes in the menu, i.e., she really couldn’t describe the menu items very well. I shared the Peking Duck with a friend; it was good, but not memorable (Komodo in Miami was much better). For me, the most disappointing aspect was the bar. In this day and age, I don’t know how a high end restaurant doesn’t use large, clear, ice in cocktails, it truly boggles my mind. Further, the whisk(e)y selection was lack luster; a restaurant in Palm Beach should have an excellent selection. While I probably wouldn’t complain if someone wanted to go there for dinner, I wouldn’t choose to go back. I suspect that the Hai House will suffer the curse of every other restaurant that’s shared that location, hopefully the next concept will get it right.

We’ve been here now three times and every time it’s better and better. It’s the kind of place where the owner is at the door and shakes your hand when you come in. Our favorites are the Ribs, Wings, Fried Rice, Peking Duck and Mongolian Beef. The place is loud, but its the kind of loud a good restaurant should be. Don’t let the stodgy old farts (they’re my friends) in Palm Beach mistake a popular restaurant that’s crowded with anything other than that. I say go and go fast. It’s great!

What a disappointment sad to say. I was hoping Hai House cuisine would have tasted much better. Lets hope they make some serious improvements with their flavors and NOT over cook vegetables.

I write this with sadness as I’m so disappointed with this place. But these reviews are important and various members employed here asked me to speak up.

One of our go-to spots in Palm Beach. Love coming for happy hour, having a cocktail and dim sum, and then staying for dinner. The Mongolian beef is one of the best I’ve ever had, same with the fried rice, egg drop soup and lo mein. My husband loves the Peking Duck. Just a great all-around, reasonably priced place. Happy to have it on the island.
