My best friend and I took a road-trip to New Orleans and my goal was to have the best gumbo, and boy did Gumbo Shop deliver! For starters, our waiter Sam is so kind and patient! I ordered the Chicken Andouille Gumbo and my friend ordered the Jambalaya. Both meals were packed with flavor and I wanted the whole pot by the time I finished my bowl! Even the bread that was served before our meal was delicious. Sam convinced me to get a Hurricane on the rocks to go (you know when in NOLA), and we were on our way. We walked about a block down and we heard someone calling our name. When we turned around, Sam was getting our attention because I forgot to put my credit card back in my wallet! I was so relieved and grateful that he had ran out to return it to me. Gumbo Shop is THE place to go if you want a nice ambiance, amazing food, and spectacular service! Thank you!

Pretty good Cajun food. Sadly they didn’t have turtle soup when I arrived. It’s a seasonal dish and I was really looking forward for some Cajun Turtle soup. None the less, the gumbo and blackened fish was real good. The rice was cooked well. However at some points, the food was a bit too salty for my liking.

Today we had lunch at the Gumbo Shop on St. Peter Street. We were greeted and seated immediately by very friendly staff. The menu offers a broad selection of items. My seafood gumbo was good and my wife enjoyed the pan seared boudin with mustard sauce. This is a very casual environment with a nice view of the street and good food.

The staff was super nice! They brought us a dish we did not order but at our request promptly brought the correct one. The chicken was good, but the gumbos were awful in both appeal and taste. Maybe we just are not fans of Creole cuisine.

We had a wonderful dinner dining experience at the Gumbo shop, on a busy Tuesday night. We lucked out and got a table in the cozy courtyard, which is a great outdoor space with fans and ferns and cobblestones and wooden staircases. I recommend the shrimp Remoulade- the large size was perfect to share for two people, in addition to an appetizer and cup of their gumbo. I have to say the blackened fish nugget appetizer was excellent- it came piping hot and fresh with the most delicious savory and spicy dipping sauce. Our server, Shonda was super friendly and attentive, food came out quickly and she had great recommendations! A good first impression for our first meal during our visit. And the fresh warm hot bread, what a treat!

My husband and I decided to have dinner here kinda last minute. The reviews looked good and the Gumbo Shop didn’t disappoint! The food was so good, but our server Damien was the reason we had such a great experience. He was so friendly and personable with us and every table we watched him interact with. He was also extremely knowledgeable about the menu and his recommendations were spot on! He steered us in the right direction based on our preferences and made our evening wonderful. We loved the sausage and chicken gumbo, and the fish nuggets have been in my thoughts since we left!! I pray they are still on the menu when we come back.

We had a wonderful experience all around! We had James as a waiter and he was so attentive, helpful and kind! We had 9 of us so it was a large party and he kept our drinks full, taking plates when finished and was just overall wonderful!

First night in new Orleans and thought we’d go where the locals go. Decent quality food and good portions. Was a little loud inside but to be expected or an evening meal. Blackened chicken was very tasty with Garlic mash and a sweetcorn melody. Definitely worth trying.
