Been wanting to try this spot for a while. Service was wonderful, food was delicious, REALLY decently sized portions, and great prices. Absolutely going again. Pictured: menu, mimosa flight, avocado toast, smothered potatoes. We ate our burrito and bagel sandwich too quickly

So far, not good… We were seated.. Three other parties came in after us, including one large party of 10 people.. All three of those parties have been waited on by a server, almost immediately after sitting, and their drinks and breakfast orders taken… We are still sitting here… No one has come to the table, no one has offered us drinks.

Waited nearly an hour for a pickup due to bad prioritation of orders, for the order to be made wrong. Promised some comp, turned out to just be burrito put into a bigger container and served as a “bowl”. Would’ve definietly gave a better review if I didnt wait 15 minutes for the lazy fix. Check your food before you leave this place if you’re ordering out ya’ll.

Place just opened and I am glad I tried it out. The spicy Bloody Mary was great. The bagel sandwich was made with a tasty bagel and I am a bit of a connoisseur so that is some real praise.

Came here with my gurl n we got in a fight bout why T town is dubbed grit city. My gurl be acting dumb. She said it was a touristy thing but how she know that when she is from here?? I told her mine her manners when it comes to things men know. I done told her it’s grit city cause the Indians used to grow grits.

I know this place has their new location, so I’m going easy on this review. They need work. Plain and simple. The food has potential but they’re getting orders wrong. They were kind enough to refund the food that was not prepared correctly. The atmosphere is OK but kinda sterile. Especially for this area of Tacoma. Our waitress was really nice but seemed very overwhelmed by the influx of customers coming in. One great thing was their drinks. Mimosa flights are tasty. Mixed drinks were top notch on flavor. I truly wish them the best and hope they figure out their little glitches.

Grit City moved from downtown to a new location. Their food has been amazing from their prior spot – both dine-in and take-out. The new location is nice and sunny, the service is good, but the breakfast burritos have been smaller and the tortillas used are cold, which has been very disappointing. I’ll continue to have breakfast and brunch here, but I hope the new location can get back to the original size and execution of the burritos. Has a great drinks menu and non-alcoholic options.

The food and drinks were really good. I ordered the smothered breakfast potatoes and scrambled eggs. I also had a the specialty french 75 and a specialty mimosa, both delicious. Our server was super sweet and attentive. Good food a good atmosphere.

The experience with my last couple orders from this restaurant has been nothing but frustrating and disappointing! I order the Vegan breakfast burrito and my last one I chewed and almost swallowed the sharp end of a tooth pick that was found in it! I bit it pretty hard leaving my tooth a bit sore.. Grit city’s remedy was to give me a free burrito? Smh! So who orders again? Me.. sigh. This time they had to remake my burrito after putting spicy salsa on it after I clearly requested no salsa no spice. I ordered extra cheese and green onion and in fact there was no cheese put on there and little to no green onion. Receptionist said the cheese was frozen and that’s why not here was no cheese, but I was still charged for both extras, they didn’t inform me until I got home and realized how they made it and called back. I’m tired of the inconsistencies with this place and the solution to fixing any issue’s need to evolve beyond a free burrito. I’m done with this place!

I was a little dubious– comedy club by night, breakfast joint by day? But the service was friendly and efficient and the breakfast burrito was massive and delicious! I ordered the rabbit– a vegetarian friendly whopper of a wrap filled with eggs, Jack cheese, mushrooms, spinach, red peppers and TATER TOTS. Those tater tots are the magic ingredient! There is also a creamy, garlicky burrito sauce in there that I think I might skip next time because the veggie and egg and tots and cheese flavors were enough to keep me deliciously satisfied. While we waited for our to-go orders, we saw lots of deliveries being picked up, so it’s nice to know Tacoma appreciates this breakfast gem.
