Why did we wait so long to try Greenbush? Best pizza in Madison. Love Buck’s Pizza, but this was just a notch above, true Chicago style thin crust.

Love the coziness and environment. Service was good. Was dining with my vegetarian friend that they really couldn’t accommodate. They offer a pasta dish with ham that absolutely could not excluded… spaghetti and meatballs was edible. But the calamari and flourless cake were good.

This place is such a hidden gem. Limited hours of operation and a limited menu, but it’s delicious and intimate. Really good liquor selection and knowledgeable staff behind the bar. If you’ve been in Madison for any length of time, this is one of those places you’ve been and loved!

PSA: Greenbush dine-in is back, and we could not have been more excited!!! (Check their website for details) They are just getting back to in-person dining, and some of the staff is still a bit new, but everyone was friendly, helpful, and more than accommodating. The pizza was as good as it’s always been, easily some of the best in Madison!! Delicious food, amazing pizza, friendly staff and a great bar too. Can’t wait to go back!!

Great thin crust pizza. The bartenders are also really good—mix up consistently great cocktails including an awesome Wisconsin-style old fashioned. It is a little on the pricey side especially if you like lots of toppings, but worth it. And the atmosphere is cozy and unpretentious. I have come here many times over the years and always really enjoy it.

On repeat! … and can’t stop craving it. This is a charming and delicious spot in the historic Greenbush neighborhood (Madison’s Ellis island; mostly Italian and Eastern European immigrants). Food has been and still is amazing. Pizza is the thing!! The thin crust is just amazing. There have been times that I have left without eating a pizza (thank you salads and bruschetta) but quickly made up for that. Can get quite busy, make a reservation if you want to snag a table. Its small and wait can be up to 45min – yes, really. The bar seating is comfy and serves food too. Relaxed, very cozy atmosphere; its in the basement of the Italian Workmen’s Club. Simple down to earth vibe. Bla bla bla…stop reading, go get a pizza!

Stopped in here for a little pizza and pasta with my daughter. In my attempt to avoid chains, and support local, this was a win! Kind staff, fantastic brick oven pizza, and tasty chicken in a cream sauce. Can’t believe I didn’t order an old fashioned, but would definitely return for another pizza and a drink. Cool vibe, don’t let the unassuming entrance and stairs down deter you…

Last night was the first time I’d been back to Greenbush since pre-pandemic. Sad to say it was not what I remembered at all. We got the large signature pizza, which was basically a very crispy dry cracker with MAYBE one slice worth of bacon on it, a tiny bit of mozzarella, no Gorgonzola at all, and a couple tiny slices of tomatoes. Then covered with arugula to hide how skimpy it was. My date had to ask for a dish of olive oil and added a bunch of table top Parmesan to it just to be able to soak it to just be able to chew it and swallow it. At $24 it was a huge rip off. Too bad and so sad…

Good service, food was delicious, difficult to find but certainly a hidden gem (hint: it’s in the basement of bakery). I want to go back when it is not so crowded to try their pasta as it looked fantastic. 4/5 for prices and not enough tables to accommodate the number of customers.
