Stopped in on my way through town for a quick dinner. I wasn’t too familiar with the cuisine so I took a recommendation from the chef and got the beef noodle bowl. It was beyond delicious! The broth was savory and complex with lots of umami flavor. Tasted like the broth was cooking all day, and the beef was full of flavor like it had been marinating all night and tender with big chunks of fat and sinew. This is a real homemade soup like your mom would make you. The menu is small but the food is authentic and you can tell the owners cook everything from scratch. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes real delicious food. I will be back!

I wanted to post this review because so many others have said such negative things. First off, this place is so good! I have been here two times and the soup is amazing! The menu has changed from what it used to be so it is NO longer all you can eat buffet noodles. But, this place is worth a visit for sure! It is small, but very authentic Chinese noodles for a decent price. The chili oil is also fantastic and I highly recommend you add it to your food. I ordered the Pork with rice noodles soup, and let me tell you the portion size is so big! It can easily be shared by two people. I would say that their soup is better tasting and priced than Tadashi ramen downtown. Also, the servers are very polite and attentive. Note- there is a small fee for using credit cards about 3.4%.

Very authentic and delicious northern Chinese food. The portion is huge and broth flavorful. We will be back!

Nice noodles. I always love places with the chili oil available. The spicy dishes are of the right levels for me (which is pretty spicy that I needn’t add more chili oil).

Unlimited custom made bowls. I went here after a Penn State game and it was very very busy, but considering how many people were there they still got us our food in a timely manner. The girl that waited on us didn’t seemed kind of lost and confused …but it didn’t really affect our meal much. Try it out! So many endless combinations! Try out their spicier flavors and don’t forget to add an egg. I really enjoyed their noodles. Everything made fresh. And FYI your meal comes with a bowl of rice if you want.

Solid make your own bowl dining. The ingredient options were acceptable, three different noodle varieties, and you can select your own meat option between shrimp, chicken and beef. My only criticism was the environment and cleanliness.

It was a bit of a disappointment showing up to a once favorite restaurant expecting the same sort of stir fry and not getting anything like what was once there. While it was disappointing, the food was still good and the portion was very large. The service was friendly. The name should probably be changed though since it is no longer anything close to being the same place it was before. I wish them all the best with the change.

This is my new favorite restaurant in state college! If you are going for your first time, look at the “custom bowls” menu and follow one of their sauce recipes rather than trying to guess and mix your own blindly. Fresh ingredients, great variety, great taste, and all of it is cooked which appeased any of my concerns about buffet style eating (you assemble the ingredients and THEN the bowl is cooked). A small is really filling and only 8.99. I’m vegetarian and there were plenty of options for me!

Love the concept! Love the food! Put exactly what you want in your bowl (lots of noodles, veggie options available), choose your sauce (again lots of options to choose from), and pick your protein (like chicken or fish or even tofu if you’re a vegetarian). Leave it on the counter with your popsicle stick, the magic chef will cook it to perfection and a server will bring right to you. Fast, easy and delicious. Not sure how it works? Just ask when you get there. They’ll gladly walk you through the process.

The food is tasty and they have some choices of veggies, proteins and noodles. But I didn’t enjoy the service. The older Asian lady immediately let me know it was $10 per bowl with only 1 meat and seemed pre-occupied with her own stuff and was rushing through explaining how things work. She was serving herself lunch in some corner while serving guests and also had her friends over. So she was sitting and chatting with them. I was the only customer in there around 1pm and some of the sauce bowls were empty. My recommendation will be to have better service, offer more variety in food choices and decorate the place a bit more to make it lively.
