Very cozy atmosphere and wonderful dishes. Hostesses and wait staff were all attentive and friendly. We had the baked Ziti, the Tuscan filet, and a side of their Alfredo Mac and Cheese. All three had great flavor and very delicious.

We went to this beautiful restaurant for dinner and we loved the atmosphere and food. They do not have a whole lot to choose from but they are adding more in the next few weeks. My husband got the shrimp pasta and I got their Flatbread. We shared the meatballs appetizer and had their fabulous cheesecake for dessert. This restaurant is so quaint and the staff is very friendly. We will most definitely return.

My husband and I ate dinner at this restaurant with another couple for the first time this past Saturday evening. The building itself is a really beautiful historic building with very nice outdoor seating including heaters for the cooler nights. When we entered the restaurant we were met by a young woman that was the hostess but I was confused by her appearance. She seemed to be wearing some kind of very short gauze skirt that was inappropriate for a restaurant trying to give a classy vibe. She offered us our choice of tables and we ended up sitting in the very back room. We were greeted by Haley, our server and she brought us water and took our cocktail order promptly. The cocktails were terrific. I ordered the Caprese salad special appetizer. The other couple ordered the charcuterie board. The Caprese salad was delicious with very tasty ingredients. The charcuterie board was disappointing in its offering for the price. We mentioned when looking at the menu that no bread came with the board, and our server offer to bring more meat and cheese. She actually ended up bringing another full charcuterie to our table. For my main entree I ordered the manicotti. It did not live up to the menu description, I did not detect any sausage in the dish and the sauce was very bland. I mentioned this to our server and she offered to comp my meal which I declined as I was only trying to give feedback to the kitchen. My husband ordered the special lasagna Bolognese. I took a taste of his and his sauce was very good but his lasagna was barely warm. Our friend ordered the beef Wellington cooked medium and his beef was very rare when he cut into it. We did order two desserts to finish our meal. My husband and I shared the chocolate lava cake which was good. Our friends shared the turtle cheesecake which they said was good but not the traditional New York style cheesecake they were expecting. When our check came,Haley, our server, made some brief explanation about the extra meat and cheese that she brought us and added the price of the second charcuterie board to our bill. If anything should have been comped it should have been the second meet and cheese board as it was her mistake for not bringing out the bread until the first board was eaten and she never mentioned charging us for a second board before bringing it. Overall the restaurant was nice but didn’t wow me. A gentleman named Harry visited our table prior to dinner to introduce himself and offer any services and I wish he would have come to our table after the dinner so I could have told him our complaints at that time.

My wife and I enjoyed our dinner very much. The atmosphere was great. We had a nice value on the bottle of Bordeaux wine that Jimmy selected for us and had a great Short Rib entrée. The service was wonderful too. We will be back.

Overall, it was disappointing. A below average experience. The entire evening was off. We ordered a charcuterie and it came without the mentioned pita bread. When our server returned to check on us, we mentioned this and she said we’ll get some additional meat and cheese to go with the pita. She brought us an entirely new charcuterie board. Wow! We thought… Until it was added to our bill. Boo! not good. The cocktails and wine were good, but The Old Man (their Old Fashion) was a very small pour of bourbon. Dinners were served. The lasagna was tasty but not served hot (warmish). The manicotti was tasteless (where was the Italian sausage?), Beef Wellington was ordered medium and came out rare. For this, we were supposed to receive a free dessert yet only one of the 2 couples received a credit on their bill. The entire evening was off from either the kitchen or server.

Had a salad with salmon on top. It was delicious! We split the salad and it was a good size. Also had their house made gelato for dessert. It was excellent! It was so good that we went back the next night to get the gelato again. Wait Staff were very attentive.

We have been to The Governor’s House several times before. We attended last night with 2 other couples. The service was very slow all night and not up to par. After finally placing our orders for 5 different meals it took 1 hour and 15 minutes for it to arrive. Way too long for us. 5 of the couples received their meals at the same time but one was missing. It took another 10-15 minutes for the last meal to arrive. Granted all the different meals were extremely good and all were hot. Another issue that all complained about was our bar drinks. The wines ordered were overpriced at $13 for a 6 oz glasses and the Old Fashions and Manhattan drinks were nothing short of terrible with no whiskey taste at all. When the manager checked in I complained about how bad my drink was and he did offer to replace it but I did not want to try another expecting him to remove the original from our bill which did not happen. Overall this experience was very disappointing, and I doubt we will return. Cost was over $100 per couple.
