The food tastes so delicious. This restaurant operates by a couple, they are so nice to customers. But they didn’t hire any staff to take orders/packing the delivery/clean up tables, they do that all by themselves, which I totally understand because the owner told me it is very difficult to run a restaurant after a pandemic, it is impossible to earn any revenue if they hire staff. BTW, one of the best family restaurants in Millbrae San Mateo.

A great place to eat delicious fish soup, bittermelon, egg, and beef dishes, and many other scrumptious dishes. The service is good, the owner is nice, and the staff works hard. We come here a lot for good-quality, and inexpensive Chinese food!

Excellent service. Great authentic Chinese food. They don’t serve much of the westernized Chinese food here. Open late till 1am every night. Reasonable prices. Convenient location and I am always able to park right outside. I don’t think these negative reviews are very accurate. I have never had cold food here and never seen the waitress be very ride, out of the probably >50 times I have been here. In fact they have some of the best service I think as they would remember the way I like my food prepped because of my diet without me reminding them, even though I only go there like once a month.

It was a OK experience, the staff is nice. The food was overly salty and too many bones in all the dishes. The waitress changed my plate 3 times because she saw too many bones on my plate. Only thing good but was still salty was their fried tofu. Everything else had way too much salt and too much garnish.

A surprisingly great find! My family was hesitant about trying it out because what kind of Cantonese place doesn’t serve milk tea?! Also, it didn’t look incredibly inviting because there was zero decor inside. But anyway, the food portions were large and very yummy! We were very pleased with the food, with some minor issues (like the carrots in my baked rice was not cooked all the way) but it was overall a great lunch! If you’re looking for a place to bring home leftovers for the next day and still be full today, this is the place!

My wife and I had dinner here on a Friday night in early May 2019. We were traveling south on the interstate from SF to Santa Cruz, and we needed a dinner break. We went to downtown Millbrae and strolled the main street, trying to decide which restaurant to try. We tried Gourmet Village and we were glad we did. It looks plain on the outside and it’s easy to miss, and inside it’s a no-frills kind of room, but with flat screen TVs on the wall, showing Asian videos primarily. The food was very good: sesame chicken, vegetable soup and spring rolls. The price was good, too — inexpensive. The restaurant was full on Friday night, all tables occupied. Lots of families with children were eating here, but surprisingly it was rather quiet in the room. It felt relaxing and not hectic at all. In terms of nationality, we were the only non-Asians in the place, suggesting that the restaurant is popular and has a loyal clientele. Service was good, fast and friendly. We would certainly come here again. We’re happy customers. Highly recommended.
