My boyfriend and I are omakase obsessed and this place is definitely on the top of our list for both fish quality and service. The chef and staff are incredibly attentive and friendly. We love how relaxed it is compared to other omakases. It’s such a fun place to come to at the end of a long week.

I have seen this restaurant for some time but I never seem to be shopping at Essex Market after it opens.

A delicious sushi restaurant offering the cheapest omakase in the city. Starting at just $30 for a nice light lunch. Some of the a-la-carte specials are delicious as well although they start to rise in price. The uni is super creamy and fresh however and a great purchase.

New addition to Essex Market. The sushi set was amazing! Could really taste the quality in both the fish and the rice. For 30 dollars, I think it is well worth the money and some of the best sushi I’ve had in NY and in Japan for the price. The matcha nigorisake latte was also heavenly on a cold day. I cant wait to come back!

Not bad at all. Solid sushi experience in the Essex Market. Had the base omakase with half roll for $40, and mushroom egg custard for $10. The fish was nice and fresh, and the egg custard had a good earthy flavor to it, but was a bit disappointed by the tamago sushi. Still, well worth it, and quite good overall.

Absolutely love this place, from the food to the staff to the atmosphere, sushi was great quality, a great selection of sake, fantastic service, Ryo took the greatest care of us. I can’t rave enough about this place, maybe it was the great time we had but you have to go to understand. Update to Gouie since the last time, they have a specialty menu with some fantastic items the tempura was delicious and the chicken teriyaki was mouth watering

This is probably the best sushi & sashimi I’ve ever had. This place is definitely a hidden gem. Next time I come back I’ll be trying out the long list of sakes!

Gouie is a real gem – excellent sushi and service in a very laid back atmosphere. The sakes they curate are fantastic but unlike what we’ve tasted before, so it was great to be offered a tasting when we were seated! The Nami chef’s plate is delicious and an impressive value, so don’t hesitate to add 1 or 2 of the special sushi of the day. Looking forward to our next visit!
