First time coming to Gonzalez Grocery today, and all of the employees were extremely helpful and kind. I didn’t feel out of place at all, though I understand barely any Hispanic / Latino / originating near and below the equator language. Pastellilos and the banana cake I ordered were SUPER TASTY. This place has arguably the best Spanish Puerto Rican food in the city unfortunately their kitchen closes at 5:00 currently is when most people get out of work so unless you can get food early that’s the consequence. Lines aren’t miserably long but they’re long enough to indicate just how good the food is that people willing to wait.
