Googled restaurants near me and This little gem popped up, decided to give it a try after reading reviews. Upon arriving there is no signage outside of business. Once inside was greeted by friendly staff and decided to order the double meat cheeseburger with bacon and an order of onion rings, with a drink and two jalapeños it came out to $26.90. I was a little taken back with the price but it was worth it. The burger was humongous almost as tall as the coke can I was drinking and it was served with a big side of onion rings. The burger needed to be cut in half to make it manageable. It was tasty maybe lacking a little seasoning for my tastes but good nonetheless. The onion rings were crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Sad to say I could not finish the burger and onions rings. Will definitely recommend this place it is good overall and worth it. It is CASH ONLY. And there is no number as they do not take any phone orders

We’ve heard about Gonzales Burger since our first visit to the RGV, but that was back in May when the place closes down after the Winter Texas season, so we weren’t able to try it then. It was surprising to pull up to a non-descript building with the only indication that there was a business of any sort located there being the open/closed sign hanging on the door and a few cars parked in front. They are not open after about 2 or whenever the fresh ground beef runs out. There were 4-5 people behind the open counter waiting on customers and then making the food but never saw any of them move out to the dining room to wipe down a table or two, all of which were dirty and sticky. There is a roll of paper towels on each table (one was empty) and rather than go to the restroom to wet a towel down, used a bit of my $2 bottle of water to at least wipe a clean spot down for us. There is no decor – Costco tables, folding chairs, and a few taxidermy heads hanging on the walls – which is beneficial to them, not having to spend money on extraneous expenses, but please try to clean tables or provide cleaning supplies so your customers can clean it for you.

If you are not looking for this place you will drive right by it. This is a CASH only restaurant and it gets busy. Showed up at 1215 got lunch at 1:10, Not sure how anyone could eat a double, the regular burger was huge. The burger was good, fresh and not overcooked. I am told they grind the meat each morning and close when they run out or 2:30 which ever comes first. i will go back.

Not a great picture, but an amazing meal! Couldn’t manage to eat the whole thing, it was giant and delicious. I’m not a huge fan of hamburgers but anytime I get an urge for one this will THE go-to spot for me. Awesome service (went expecting an hour + wait but realized we went on a Friday during lent) excellent food and a comfortable and inviting atmosphere.

Go there hungry and with patience as lineups can be an hour wait. Food is worth it. Burgers are huge, good to share. Onion rings are the best.

Terrible experience, Skip this place and go somewhere nice. Extremely slow service, be prepared to wait 45 mins to one hour for a large mediocre burger that can be made better made at home. The price is a bit extreme. 2 burgers, one order of onion rings along with two can soft drinks came out $36. Probably paid the Texas Bucket list for a good review……..way overrated!!!!

Everything is bigger in Texas taken quite literally here, these enormous burgers definitely hit the spot for a Saturday afternoon with my kiddos, well… half a burger did at least Bring a Big appetite folks, you’re going to need it, I’d give 5 stars but the burger lacked some flavor, keep up the good WORK guys, y’all ROCK

Damn! They definitely but McDonalds to shame. Lol. Its not exactly what you call or consider a fancy restaurant. Its small but the burgers are fantastic. I will definitely be telling my friends and family about this great find.
