There are only 2 Golden Woks in San Antonio. Had to try this one, and it was as great as the first one. Misses the happy hour 5-7 pm and the lunch specials. I’m looking forward to checking it out. I advise you to get appetizers and several dish plates and share with others. Love this!

The golden wok.. is good. I was looking for some good to eat and we decided on the golden wok. The menu is a standard. It is not a bad choice. They didn’t have anything on the menu that would make you go, ” I am definitely coming back!” So please don’t take this as a bad review. The food is good! What I like, they are open later than most restaurants in the area.

The waitress was very nice! The restaurant was clean. Wasn’t too impressed by the food though. The lo mein had a char taste. Some of the noodles and chicken pieces were burnt, maybe they just need to clean the grill. The Lemon Chicken had dried out greasy edges to it. The rice and egg roll were very good. Will give it another try though. They have a happy hour in the bar only. Apps and drinks at a special price.

I’ve been coming to this place since it was on the other side of the expressway.. I feel lately the food hasn’t been quite the same as before but I’m sure they change cooks often. It’s still a spot my kids like to go to. Their soup is delicious and so is the Shrimp Su Mai.

If you look really close you can see a couple slices of beef in our Mongolian vegetable…. I mean Mongolian Beef…. Prices are way too high in these current times to charge what they do and get no beef! Never ordering that again!

Raw chicken!!! I was rushing to pick up my lunch order as I had a conference call to get on. I got back to my desk and just started eating while on my call. It tasted funny but I was just trying to get it down so that I could finish my call since I had another meeting right after. After several bites I finally had enough bad taste and SENSE to look down and I saw that I had been eating completely raw chicken. I mean it was red!! I called the manager, Fernando, and there was no apology or sense of sincerity. Just a rude “well if you want a refund, you need to bring us back the food”. And I get that I guess, but gosh, I could get really sick by this and that’s what I get from you?? Disappointment for sure. By the way I have pictures and I posted on other social media and I made a call to the health department. You should really do better about the quality of food you serve and respecting the customers who choose to spend their hard earned money at your establishment.

This place is a hard no for me. You don’t get the option of fried rice. Your only option is completely tasteless dry white rice. I can make it just as careless at home, for almost no cost. Disgusting, I tried peppering it for some flavor and it helped none, We both left it there. Chicken is good such a shame they don’t have the option for a good rice. I gave it two stars… one for the sesame chicken I got&&my bfs orange chicken was good and 2 because the only other time I tried it was during lunch when you can get fried rice with your plate. Only time I’d recommend it other wise do yourself a favor and go down the street to Wok Inn they won’t charge you extra for a soup, it comes complimentary with your plate and you can get fried rice with your plate if you want. We both left our rice there. Waitress seemed irritated when I asked about the rice too, I wanted to make sure I was reading right because I was a bit shocked I couldn’t get a rice I wanted with my plate. Anyways won’t be back unless I somehow make it during a lunch time.

Golden Wok has long been a San Antonio classic and they rarely disappoint. I have had takeout several times but my dine in experience was very enjoyable. The atmosphere is very chill with good music playing but not too loud. The food is of course great quality and the service was very prompt and courteous. I highly recommend this for Chinese style cuisine.

I really like eating here, but it was extremely HOT inside. We let our waitress know she said it’s always hot in there. That’s not a great experience when you’re trying to eat your food comfortable. Better taking it to go.
