The chicken has no flavor…paper probably has more taste. The dirty rice mimics Thanksgiving stuffing and the green beans are over cooked. The rolls can be used for soft ball practice and the Mac is sticky and bland.

Earlier I just left a 5 star review with no comment. But I had to come back and tell my thoughts. First, the staff are friendly, sharp, efficient, and I have NEVER had a bad experience. Even that one time a couple of years ago when my rolls weren’t with my order (mistakes happen) but the owner was apologetic and made it more than right. I always love the food. The catfish is yum! And even when I just come in for a cup of their shaved ice, a puny order, I get the same friendly service.

Since KFC closed, Guthrie is very limited on its fried chicken options, so it was with great pleasure that I found that Golden Chick was an option. I have never tried any of their franchises, so I visited not knowing what to expect. This location is part of the Guthrie Travel Center and is conveniently located on Highway 33 at exit 157 (Noble Avenue, if you turn East at the exit). The prices of the chicken orders are comparable to other chicken places, like KFC and Church’s. My family wasn’t impressed by the taste of the coating of the fried chicken, and the mashed potatoes are basic and flavorless, so you definitely need the gravy to help them along, but the fried okra is flavorful. The one item that this restaurant has that is truly remarkable is their yeast rolls. They are wonderful. Also, I have to give kudos to this location’s customer service. When a mistake was made on my order, the manager went above and beyond the call of duty to make it right. Because there are few chicken options in Guthrie, I would probably eat here again, but I may try the roast chicken next time, check my order carefully, and I will definitely order extra rolls!

Absolutely the best customer service I have ever had in a fast-food restaurant. I was there around 1:30 or 2 yesterday and the food was ready as soon as I was done ordering. The girl who took my order had the absolute best professional attitude and friendly demeanor that I have ever seen in customer service. The younger black girl who took my order seriously deserves a raise. Everything was fresh and the restaurant looked clean. Food was like what I wish KFC was. Plus the spicy chicken seasoning goes so well with the z sauce.
