I visited this most amazing GJ’s Huli Chicken by pure chance and let me tell you- THE BEST CHICKEN I HAVE EVER HAD—-HANDS DOWN. Initially- from the roadside, we saw the rolling smoke as the chickens were being cooked, then decided to stop and see what all the people in line were waiting for. So glad we stopped. I recommend this place to everyone!! You’re going to love it! Menu has lots of grilled meats and sides to offer!!

We are here on our loop around the island and it was worth the stop. We would have loved to try the beef ribs also but they were out when we arrived — next time!

Excellent chicken, worth the hype and an hour drive from Kailua-Kona. Chicken was very moist and flavorful, even for the second day (just heat it in the microwave). Go early as the place is very popular. Open on weekends only. Just get the chicken. Pork ribs were very chewy and burnt. Price was expensive. $22 for a whole chicken. $17 for pork ribs. $20 for a chicken plate. Take out only. Plenty of parking as the place is operated in an empty lot on the side of the road.

Amazing beef ribs. So tender and the flavor was amazing. Great huli chicken. Also enjoyed the banana lumpia. Lots of other food options like pork ribs and side dishes. We got there around 1 and they were already sold out of the pork ribs which we would have loved to try. Sad that we didn’t have another weekend on our vacation to stop here again (only open Saturday and Sunday). Well worth the trip.

Awesome family run huli huli chicken stop. They give you a ton of food, it is easily shareable. I loved the ribs the most! The marinade was unique and tasty. Bring a towel to sit on and enjoy your meal in the sun.

Best BBQ chicken ever! Even the chicken breast was so tender and juicy. The seasoning was just perfect and not too salty like many other Hawaiian dishes.

My husband’s only goal while on vacation in Hawaii was to get Huli chicken we saw this place on Somebody Feed Phil and wanted to try it. They are only open on Sat and Sunday. We flew in on Sunday and so we had to wait all week for this. Some locals suggested another Huli chicken place south of Kona that was supposed to be good as well, but we left there highly disappointed. We were a little hesitant to try this after the other experience however the two are definitely not the same! Gj’s Huli Chicken is delicious! You absolutely must add this into your vacation plans! It was 100x better then the luau we attended and far superior to the other huli chicken on the island. The line is worth it you won’t be disappointed.

Really just incredibly tasty foods, the Huli chicken is superb and I’ve never banana lumpia so good beside from my Filipino friends! The serving sizes are perfect for a family. 10/10
