Came to see what the hype was about. We tried the scampi, hot and spicy, and lemon butter shrimp plates. Scampi was our favorite, spicy was too spicy for us, and lemon butter didn’t have enough flavor in my opinion. The shrimp itself was pretty good (you need to peel shell though), but $16 for 12 shrimp it was definitely not worth it. Overall decent shrimp, but not amazing and not worth the price.

This shrimp truck is located right off the highway, not far from Turtle Bay. I ordered the scampi with a side of the hot sauce (the lady working recommended this). It was amazing by itself and I LOVED the hot sauce. The shrimp still has shells but they peeled super easy and it was worth the peeling effort. It also comes with a side of rice that was delicious, especially with that hot sauce. They also had a shaded area to eat. I took a picture but after I already dug in (I couldn’t wait).

$16 is a bit on the pricey for shrimps. The parking fee makes it even more so. BUT! Even as a person who has little tolerance to fishy food, this was delicious!

We had the shrimp scampi and the hot and spicy shrimp. Both were excellent. I recommend having both of them at the same time. The two flavors go well. The garlic sauce on the rice really made a difference for me.

The stretch of highway had lots of shrimp truck options. Lots of travel blogs recommended this truck in particular. I got the Garlic Shrimp Plate which was 12 shrimps with 2 scoops of rice for $16 (cash only). It lived up to the hype. So delicious and fresh! One of my favorite plate lunches on the island. Come ready to get messy and love every garlicky minute of it. I went for an early dinner after a day of exploring the North Shore and the wait for food was only a few minutes. The pavilion had lots of tables in the shade and a hand wash station with soap. There was plenty of parking throughout this food truck area. Highly recommend! And if you have a few minutes to spare, check out the La’ie Point State Wayside area just 8 minutes down the road. The views are stunning & I even spotted a sea turtle.

My heart was set on getting shrimp at Giovanni’s because all you read from travelers reviews is that it’s the very best on the island. I went to the Kahuku location. I asked for spicy garlic shrimp and the lady impatiently told me I will get their famous shrimp scampi with hot sauce on the side so I did. The shrimp were overcooked and dry. The shells were hard to peel off and shrimp had a rubbery texture. The garlic rice was mushy and bland. Certainly didn’t meet my expectation. I’m sorry to disagree to the people who were raving about Giovanni’s. I have tried 3 different shrimp trucks and I would say that Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck is number 3 on my list. To sum it all up, it appears that Giovanni’s is living off their reputation.

Customer service was mediocre. Shrimp was small. Not worth the $16. There is an air of Attitude with the cashier along with the person serving the food. Def will not recommend this place. I wouldn’t even sit in the sitting area near the truck because they are toxic. I sat next to the waffle truck. Good vibe and good music selection.

Still great Giovanni’s shrimp, but what happened to the aloha spirit? The lady cashier was very unfriendly towards everyone. A little smile or “Hello, how are you?” goes a long way. It’s crazy how bad attitudes can just ruin your excitement for a place everyone seems to rave about. Shrimp as stated was delicious, but rice scoops are smaller than the average ones you get at plate lunch places.

The sauce is very very good. I would have bought some if they were selling it. Other than that it’s pretty standard. Got the scampi because that the only one that has garlic. The shrimp shells were a little hard so I couldn’t eat them. It was very busy but the line moved fast and i got my order almost immediately.
