I recently moved to SF from NYC (where the pizza comes from) and I’ve been avoiding pizza entirely since I got here because 1) I don’t like crying in public and 2) some of the pizza shops I’ve walked past here should be brought up on charges for tomato-related crimes. I don’t know I’m not a pizza lawyer. Anyway I finally caved, and I’ll be honest the folks at Gioia make some pretty solid pizza. Clearly fresh ingredients, good flavors, nice chewy crust, and decent prices. Guess this elitist New Yorker will have to find something else to complain about now.

Pretty good place for a walk-by pizza by the slice. Friendly and fast service. Dough and crust felt high quality, the toppings were good but not amazing.

Sort of an average slice of NY style pizza – I thought the toppings and tomato sauce could have been higher quality. Size of the slice was very small as well. The crust at the end had a nice chew to it though.

Great flavor! If it’s your first time and don’t know which one to get, try the Funghi pizza and you’ll love it. I thought it was a white pizza but it’s actually tomato sauce base. I tried the margherita too and it’s good but I prefer the Funghi one.

The pizza is pretty nice, but there is no place to sit, and it takes some time to get your order.

Closest to a cheap slice spot you’re gonna get in hayes. Has a little sf feel to it. The staff seem hard working in the back cranking pies non stop! Worth a nice extra tip given reasonable price of the pie.

Delicious pizza, they have some unique flavors like the Funghi and my friend got the broccoli ricotta which was off menu. I grabbed a Margherita slice as well, classic flavor and they add on fresh basil after warming it up. Highly recommend coming here! I will say, there’s only 1 table there so it’s first come first serve.

Gioia has consistently been one of the better places to get a slice or whole pizza in San Francisco for as long as I have been aware of them circa the Fall of 2019. You are guaranteed a solid slice no matter what direction you take it in. They do the cheese slice right which means they are reliable for toppings both conventional and complex. You can trust this place to deliver. If they ever have an off day, it is still better than a lot of places in the City on their best. Gioia is in the running of top tier slices in San Francisco. From the slice perspective you should absolutely try Gioia if you are considering doing so. There are a lot of places that are not Gioia that you may hear about and feel flippant about.

Love the pizza here! The crust is excellent. Only thing is I wish they had a vegan or no-cheese option. I always end up peeling the cheese off
