Not sure what has happened to Gil’s. They had the best chicken in town and good service. Their tenders are now the size of a wing and more expensive. And always items are missing when we get home. I understand everything is more expensive so we have to pay more because Gil’s pays more. BUT I feel we should still receive the same size food product and good service. Come back ole Gil’s!

This was our first and probably the last time we visit this place! The person that took our order at the window was extremely rude, as was the person that brought the order to our car. We ordered 2 – 2 piece chicken meals through the drive thru this evening. The food deserves 3 stars, & the customer service 0 stars. We tried being friendly & courteous to these employees, but they were just plain rude! It seems like they hate their jobs. I do not recommend this place.

I’m a very dissatisfied customer due to mgmnt mistreatment.The pale chicken was spiceless, drive thru staff are sweet-sweet people, uniformed w/hair nets, but don’t expect graciousness from Mgr Alan Hart. I spent $55 on chicken (and small fish/chips). My guest found a long light colored hair in the chicken she bit into, and spit it out. The manager A. Hart is young and inexperienced, and was extremely argumentative about all details (“how where when, why are you just now calling at 4pm if the order was at 1:30pm, none of my staff have long brown hair, my cook is bald, I don’t see how this could’ve happened, I won’t replace the $55 order”). Alan came down hard and heavy, repeating his position SEVERAL TIMES, making me feel like a would-be-scammer. I’m a senior, and a good paying customer wherever I go. Don’t know the policy, but I never once mentioned “full replacement”. He offered a 2-3 piece replacement. (Which is it, 2 or 3?) I had to grovel for 4 pieces (he flat out refused) until I asked for the owners name, which he provided, and in the same breath agreed to settle on a 4 piece replacement. Like I said, the staff I saw from the drive-thru window wore hair nets, so Alan needs to figure out how hair gets in the food as they unrefrigerate/cook/fill orders (because he was unbelieving). They may still have hair on their clothes after donning h.nets by not shaking it off their shoulders. I don’t recommend dealing w Alan Hart. He needs customer svc, ethical decision-making, and sensitivity training. Alan was all ego talking — he doesn’t respect customers or seniors. I’d like to tell the owner, but my guest wrote the name and no longer has it. Hope owner reads this post and provides additional support for him. Skip the hassle, folks.

We went way out of our way to go to Hunter Rd. To have “Gils” Because we always love to eat at the one in town. And they went so far so we have to plan ahead to go. But it wasn’t worth the time or trouble to get there. It was a Saturday May 26, 2023. Got there at 7pm. There were 3 young grumpy BOYS. And 1 young lady with an attitude. And an older man cooking. I waited 15 min. No one was in the dining room but there was a long drive thru line. I ordered a Snack pack my boyfriend a 2 piece combo. Got cold chicken cold fries and almost frozen biscuits. We ate the chicken anyway but took the biscuits to the counter and asked for warm ones the guy there said they were all the same and replaced 2 more cold ones I told him they were cold he said well there in the oven at whatever temp. I said but it’s not working cause they are COLD! He said oh well. Ugh. So needless to say I’m hoping me writing this review will encourage a manager to take charge and change things. As for me well I will not come back anytime soon. I used to love this chicken. I’m sad to say the employees take no pride in there work. It’s dirty and dirty. It reflex on the management.

Let people order for pick up and pay upon arrival. It’s so aggravating when I’m doing Favor and y’all try to force me to drive all the way or to pull my favor card out while driving to pay over the phone. How bout you just act like every other restaurant in San Marcos and allow pick up with payment placed upon arrival.

Simply the best chicken and dumplings in Texas!!! The one stars is for the only day they have it. This is the only problem… Should be available all the time but at least 5 days out the week for 5 star rating if you ask me.

The chicken is always hot and fresh. The service is terrible. The kids working in the evening hours are always on the phone or just not paying attention to the customers. I guess the person in charge is in the office and doesn’t care either.

I purchased a 10pc and by the time I got home (I’m about 10 minutes out) the whole bottom of the box came apart. My food landed on the floor. Not happy at all..
