Best Boulognese sauce I’ve eaten in 30 years outside my own home.

This is my family’s go to restaurant in The Hill when in St. Louis. Being part Italian (from the NYC metro area) I seek out delicious Italian cuisine, and Gian-Tony’s is top notch. The food and service is consistently very good. We started our meal with the Ravioli Tostati, aka Toasted Ravioli. They have to be the best Toasted Ravioli we have ever eaten. Crunchy, but not too crunchy, on the outside, and then on the inside is a meaty filling covered by a soft yet slightly al dente ravioli. We dipped it into a meaty tomato dipping sauce. Then we ordered the Mozzarella Bufala Salad. The tomatoes were firm and meaty, and tasted sweet, and topped with a slice of creamy yet slightly salty Buffalo Mozzarella cheese. Then all of it was topped with a Vinaigrette dressing that was flavorful especially with the fresh basil. My wife enjoyed her Ravioli Bolognese, and my son devoured his Pasta Con Polpette meal. He couldn’t stop raving about the meatballs and how delicious they were. I ordered the Risotto Con Pesce, and enjoyed it as well. The shrimp, clams, tomatoes and mushrooms were cooked perfectly, and the saffron infused risotto was creamy and flavorful from the white wine and seafood broth. For dessert my wife enjoyed the Volcano. She raved about the warm brownie being the best one she has ever eaten. It wasn’t too dense or rich just the perfect balance of each. My son and I ordered the Cannolis. The crispy shell was a perfect golden brown color. The filling was okay, but not what I was expecting. It was far too sweet and had too thin of a consistency. The Espresso was a perfect ending to the meal. Just the right amount of bitterness to counteract the sweet filling. The hostesses and servers were very friendly, helpful and attentive.

This place is a bit erie inside due to the dim lighting. The food is EXPENSIVE we came for dinner and for 6 ravioli yep that’s right SIX lobster ravioli for $29!!!!! Was it delicious? Yes! But not worth $29 for 6 lobster ravioli. The calamari has tentacles and it’s SO chewy bleh

Was not worth the price. The toasted ravioli, soup and salad were delicious. The Alfredo tasted bland like it was out of a jar. The carbonara was better than the Alfredo but still seemed from a jar. The chocolate crème brûlée was good. The vanilla creamer brûlée was not cooked correctly so it wasn’t smooth.

We were told The Hill was the place to get a great meal before a show at The Fabulous Fox Theater. Word of caution, there isn’t much open for dinner on Sunday in this area. The restaurants that were either specifically named to us or we thought looked good online were all closed except Gian-Tony’s. We made an early reservation and the place was nearly empty but within a few minutes it was filled to capacity. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The food was mediocre. We tried the seafood stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer. The bread provided was nothing special. House ceaser salads before the main course has low quality lettuce, burned croutons, and was heavy on the anchovy in the dressing. For main dishes we chose the filet mignon and the seafood ravioli with scallops. The filet is served swimming in a dish of “filet sauce” which tasted like a creamy chicken broth. It wasn’t enjoyable and at $42, the quality of the meat didn’t match the price point. For $20 we got 5 large ravioli sprinkled with what looked like marshmallows but in reality were the tiniest scallops I had ever seen. We finished the meal sharing a tiramisu because I have to try every Italian restaurants tiramisu. It was light on the espresso flavors and heavy on sweet cream. Throw in 2 glasses of well-wine and it was $112 for a couple before a 20% tip. I was excited to try Gian-Tony’s on our visit to St. Louis but will definitely look for something different on our next visit.

I came here from the arch for dinner because of the reviews. Ordered the shrimp scampi, came with a salad. Everything had no flavor. A little salt wouldn’t hurt. The salad was blind and wilted, almost as though the dressing was on it for hours. The shrimp scampi was just as bland. Breading falling off, no salt, little garlic oil.

Wish I could give more stars. Really. I had the Pasta Con Scallops made spicy. Absolutely killer. My girlfriend had Seafood Ravioli. Really good. The toasted ravioli appetizer was so-so. I’d skip it next time. Then I’d be able to eat all my entree. Met an older couple before dinner who are regulars. They recommended Ray make us a Brandy Alexander. So we had one after dinner. Ice Cream and Brandy. How could you go wrong? Delicious. Took two cannoli back to the hotel to eat for breakfast tomorrow. Can’t wait. I’m sure other places on The Hill are good , but I know this one is. I hope you have a good experience as we did.

Was excited to try a restaurant on “The Hill”. When we walked in the host looked shocked to see our group. There were seven of us not sure if that was an issue or not. We were seated outside and our waiter was not friendly at all until then end when we paid. (The waiter for the table next to us seemed very courteous.) The food was mediocre.
