I ordered a small portion of oxtail with white rice and enjoyed it. The oxtails were cooked to perfection: juicy and fall off the bone. The stew was flavorful and a little bit spicy, but a little too liquid (more like a soup than a stew). Portion sizes are small for the price, but I am assuming the rent is very expensive due to the excellent location and that it reflects on the food prices. I dined in and did not like that my food was served in a recycled to-go food container rather than a plate. The restaurant is clean, spacious, and simply decorated. The server was nice and attentive.

I wanted to try something different on a Sunday evening, so I decided to hit up Get Jerked for what seemed like good Jamaican Jerked chicken which is a staple in Caribbean cuisine. The reviews seemed decent and the pictures looked good. So I decided to try. When scrolling the menu, I realised that the food was a bit pricey but I went ahead and made my order anyway. An order of Jerk Chicken and Curry Goat came up to around $22 and another order of Shrimp Nachos came up to around $15.99. When all said and done I paid about $40+ for the meal. Upon picking up the meal, the clerk at the front opened the box to show me the contents of the package I paid $22 for. Half of the food container was empty. I asked, where was the rest. He simply didn’t know. Wasn’t happy about that. But since the food looked decent and I wanted to be a good patron I was willing to overlook the proportions that was served. Now I would expect that the taste would redden for the high price and meager proportions. After tasting, the jerk chicken left a bit to be desired as I could only taste reheated charred bits of chicken and the Curried Goat clearly needed to be trimmed of the excessive fat before cooking and serving it to people. The Rice and Peas was decent. But the worst is the shrimp nachos which came with stale chips. For the amount of money they are charging for this meal I would think the quality would be on par. I would not spend my hard earned cash at this establishment again.

I really want to be 100% honest but due to me respecting my people I’ll hold back, hence an extra star. I’ve had authentic Jamaican food and this is not it. Being in the restaurant feels like I walked into a family reunion of strangers. It made me feel uncomfortable that there appeared to be 20 people there that were all related. Don’t get me wrong, they were nice but it was still very awkward. Especially seeing all of them walking behind the curtain were the food was being prepared. That should have been my que to leave. I honestly feel like the majority of these 5 star reviews came from their family and friends because it’s no way someone who knows what authentic Jamaican food taste like thinks this food is good let alone 5 star greatness. Our food took over 30 minutes even though we were told what we ordered had no wait on it. All of the food was salty with a dash of spice. I could not taste any authentic seasoning on anything I ordered. I tried a veggie patty for the first time and was completely disappointed. It was burnt and crumbled apart before I could get it to my lips. I will not be back to the establishment but I do wish them success. Hopefully they take these reviews to heart and make some changes.

I absolutely love the food! It is not only delicious but very fresh. They take pride in their food and work. When they showed me the food before I even purchased it, to make sure it looked okay to me, I complemented it and the joy on their face was one of knowing they put their heart and soul into something they love. Give it a try and you will love it!

Because this is a black owned business i won’t be too harsh, the food didn’t taste Jamaican at all. The spices weren’t Jamaican spices they were soul food spices. I’ve had some amazing Caribbean food from many different places and this was disappointing. I had curry chicken, cabbage and rice and peas. It had no flavor really just very spicy. And the portions for $18 just wasn’t enough. It could be a great spot it needs work however.

My husband called to asked about certain things on the menu and the employee who answered the phone hung up. Then my husband called back two more times before the same person picked up the phone again. So, he started to ask about the menu again and the employee was very rude and very short, as if he was getting on his nerves. We were previously excited about going but the representation derailed our experience. It’s unfortunate because we love to support black owned businesses and would have order a variety of items, while also leaving a great tip. Hopefully, their customer service improves.

I have been on the hunt for good oxtail in STL for years. I’ve been looking for good fun black owned restaurants like Houston has to offer ever since I’ve left Houston. The food was phenomenal! I don’t even eat rice and peas and when I say it was the best rice I’ve ever had. I was literally eating my food planning out what I’m going to have to get my next visit because I can’t wait to try everything. I thought the prices was well worth the quality and quantity. Although I thought the up charge to add shrimp was a little pricey, it wasn’t like most places when you add shrimp and find all of 3 unseasoned shrimp mixed in sooo nonetheless, I’d pay for it again and again. You could really tell the chef cared about what he was sending out. I loved the atmosphere. The owner and chef was kind and talked to us a bit which I appreciate at any restaurant/ business. I would highly recommend and will for sure be back!

We had the jerk chicken and oxtails with collards and a kids meal. The jerk chicken and oxtails were a hit with my crowd. The collards were a bit salty, but still good. Kids meal(chicken strips and fries were good, even though he preferred what we were eating. We ended up eating the kids meal 🙂 Oan the ginger beer was awesome

The oxtails fell off the bones. And the rice & peas is the BEST I have tasted. Flavorful and seasoned to perfect. I love it. Hospitality was welcoming. That alone, I truly appreciated. Keep serving great food
