Great local joint, if I lived in the area, I would be a regular.

I grew up in New Orleans so i didn’t know that George’s was a local institution. Talk about atmosphere! I love the dark look of the place and the low-set turn-of-the-century stamped tin ceilings. These are covered by dollar bills taped to the ceiling with patrons’ names on them in black marker. The menu is huge but – word to the wise – you’ve got to write your order yourself on a slip from the stack on the counter! Don’t forget to write your sides and drinks! I got the mushroom burger and it rocked! Well-cooked mushrooms in brown gravy over a huge patty on a soft bun. But I forgot to write my side and drink on my slip so all I got is the burger lol. I was there with two dozen friends from the Friends of LSU Libraries after there annual Book Bazaar to benefit LSU Library and we talked and hung out for a great ole time! Go try George’s Southside!

Awesome! Watched the LSU Tigers in the CWS here, the place was buzzin’. Food was good, as always and the service was great. Jalapeno cheese fries FTW! Geaux Tigers

This place is a BR institution, in business for many years. It’s very casual, and good for a quick bite with the family. Not much ambiance, kind of dark and the interior largely unchanged for many years. The menu is large, with just about every sandwich option you can think of including tons of poboys and burgers. The food isn’t mind-blowing, but it’s good for what it is and definitelyhits the spot. My colleague and I split a whole shrimp and whole ham & cheese, and both were good. Overall, a solid choice for lunch or dinner and great for groups bc there is something for everyone.

Great food and vibes… Definitely a place where locals in the neighborhood go to eat and drink regularly… I have gotten burgers and po-boys at the other location. I opted for RBR and it was really good. I definitely tasted the roux was done the way it is supposed to be done.

$27 for average sized sammy and burger plus one drink. Respect to back of house for good tasting, well cooked plates but this food is nothing to write home about especially for almost thirty buck and no sides. Such a shame the guy takin our orders was very rude to me, the people in front and his coworker all in the span of a few minutes
