It’s a good japanese pizza place and other food and drinks. There are many style of the pizza (forget about the usual pizza one) it made of chop cabbage or noodle as a base then mixed with the flour. something new to try. There are another items too like grill, deep fries etc. Great service too. Reservations is recommended because is limited seats.

The food was incredibly tasty. We ordered different styles of okonomiyaki and yakisoba – all of them were fresh and amazing! The prices are a little on the higher side for the quantity of food. Starters and sakes were also nice. Service was spotty and we felt very rushed. In spite of having to deal with the awkward service, we had a good time.

Our first time at Gaijin. Great service, very flavorful and authentic okonomiyaki. We had bok choy and marinated beef ribs for appetizers, veggie yakisoba and mushroom and yuba okonomiyaki, Hiroshima-style. Make sure you have lots of room for their Japanese shaved ice dessert, we had ujikintoki (matcha ice cream with red bean) and sesame yuzu (black sesame ice cream with yuzu), and enjoyed every bite.

Always a great experience at Gaijin. As one of the only places in downtown Chicago that sells okonomiyaki, they do a very spot-on job of being authentic Japanese and not some weird fusion. One thing I may say though is that the Osaka style could be a little crispier. It’s very mushy and some people do comment that they can taste the flour mixture making it seem a little undercooked. I love their Sake flight but with they had more selections on the drink menu for Sake.

This was my first time here. I went for the drinks but didn’t get any food. The drinks taste really fresh and look great. I sat at the bar and the service was great. Overall, a nice little spot to stop by for a drink.

Amazing food, atmosphere and service. The octopus yakisoba is one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. And the mochi donuts are to die for. I highly recommend this place and plan on coming back again. The price point is also extremely reasonable.

My friend and I came here for dinner and decided to split everything. For drinks, She ordered the lychee cocktail and I ordered the Gaijin. To start we ordered the bok choy , beef ribs, and kimchi. We then got the okonomiyaki sampler and ordered the shrimp, chicken, and beef. The beef was the best by far. We also tried the traditional yakisoba which was good but huge. To finish, we got the coffee mochi which was good but I’d say the sauce tasted more like coffee than the donut itself. If you come here, be sure to bring your appetite.
