Ot was a neat experience to visit a restaurant that’s been around since the 1770’s. The wait staff were dressed in Colonial outfits, and the menu flagged George Washington’s favorite meal.

Love, love, love coming here for lunch or dinner. We always celebrate our anniversary here! The best French Onion Soup and the best Ruben sandwich!

Food looks good when it comes to the table. But was very bland with no seasoning…. and the onion soup is so sweet as if a ton of sugar was added.. fries was a pile of oil with a side of fry .

We took advantage of Alexandria Restaurant Week to try this quaint historic tavern in Old Town Alexandria. Beware that street parking could be a bit hard to find, so give yourself time to find parking and amble over. I ordered Medium Rare Prime Rib but it was more Medium, and the meat was not as tender as I expected. The horseradish sauce and mashed potatoes were probably the best part of the dish! The Tavern Salad and desserts were all flavorful and satisfying. Our Italian waiter provided great service whenever we could get his attention 🙂

The food was AMAZING. Not only the novelty of the restaurant with the staff in colonial attire, nor the authenticity of the menu, the atmosphere, etc, but genuinely good food, friendly hosts, great environment. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a good VA meal but especially clarified history nerds.

Never crowded when I go. Either alone or with family. Wonderful history, lovely atmosphere, and a beautiful building. Food is okay if a tad pricy. But you’re going to get that at a historical tavern. And the museum is right next door.

My sister, my daughters and I had a very pleasant experience. All of the food was delicious, the service was wonderful and the atmosphere lovely. Our server Gloria couldn’t have provided better service. We enjoyed the history of the building as well.

A great for history buffs or for those looking for a good spot to grab lunch in the center of Old Town Alexandria. This a place where George Washington ate at…enough said. The waitress was outfitted in 18th century garb. The front door is the original and almos 300 years old. The peanut soup is decent as well as their crab cakes. Highly recommend!
