This is a lovely little restaurant with a welcoming staff. Unfortunately the food did not wow us, especially the tempura prawns. They were very small, mostly batter & all we tasted was oil. We had 4 different rolls & 1 of them was full of flavor, the other 2 rather tasteless & one other, that was tempura fried, had no other taste than oil.

The chef and staff are amazing, and the food tastes so good that I come over more often than I should. Every time I try something different and I enjoy it.

Fujiya is some of the best, if not THE best sushi I’ve ever had. The service is the best in Tacoma and the community around Fujiya is welcoming and from the heart. The sushi itself is always fresh and Juan, Tony, Soyla, and Pedro (the chefs) always continue to provide the best Japanese food in Tacoma. I highly suggest going to Fujiya.

Decent sushi, and other good Japanese items on the menu. Ordered a sashimi roll plate with the chefs picks, it was good, fresh tuna.

This place was also AMAZING!! My fiance and I have only been here once, but totally fell in love with it! We were looking for a place with good fried rice. And so we just went to the closest place we’ve never been to. And boy, were we glad that it was this place! Their food is WONDERFUL! The atmosphere was really nice and inviting. The staff was just the same. It’s not a very big place, it’s really like a hidden gem of Tacoma. I recommend it very much so! We had the chicken teriyaki with white rice. It was the best I’ve had since I don’t know how long! And it was cheaper that most of the other places we have gone recently. By like 7-10 dollars. Just another plus adding up to a great place for dinner in Tacoma! It was a really fun night out. We left very happy. I really suggest this place if you want good teriyaki and/or sushi. 🙂

Everything here was delicious and authentic. The decor was lovely, well-and the place had great artwork. The sashimi, tonkotsu ramen, miso soup, tempura vegetables, and suki yaki were all so amazing and flavorful. They gave us hot steaming towels at the end that were divine. Also, they gave us two free dishes that were delicious as well. The place is a little tucked behind some buildings for reference. Did not regret coming here at all and will come again!

Best birthday dinner surprise!!! I’ve need waiting to go and it did not disappoint!! The ambiance is amazing! Cozy but you feel like you are in your own private space! Service was fantastic and fast and the food was stellar! We shared sushi,Ramen and a pork dinner and we both left full with leftovers! The sushi was the best I’ve had! I can’t wait to go back!

We enjoyed tempura and a beef dish that were very good. The soup was great, but the salad was not all that appealing. The dressing seemed to be more mayo than anything. Still, it was a good experience. Our server was fabulous

The salmon skin roll, was advertised with Burdock root, yet served with Carrot. [As if they have anything in common, except being tubers.] A “Spicy Pike” roll, was simply not spicy at all… I was hoping for a Sereno pepper , or something with a little bite. Instead it was dressed with some Sriracha tobico, which supplied no capsaicin to the dish.

I REALLY wanted to love this place. It’s in a cute location, it’s small, quaint, cozy, clean. For the price you pay, the sushi isn’t anything special. It’s good don’t get me wrong, but it’s not WOW. Even the presentation wasn’t special. It looked like they served the food on ikea plates. They also took a LONG time to serve us. Even to get water at the start room about 15 minutes. From sitting down to getting our food, it took almost 1 hour & 15 minutes. But it looked like they were short staffed. Our waitress was a blonde girl (didn’t get her name). She was super sweet & did an amazing job serving when she could, but she looked so stressed out running to ALL the tables basically alone. We felt bad for her. We definitely are willing to give them another try, so we’ll update when we do try again.
