The Freeport Oyster Bar is located in the heart of Freeport. Next to LL Bean flagship store holds we hold the honor of occupying a Freeport Historical Society building built in 1830. The now bustling, raw seafood bar and local cocktail hot spot was once a carriage barn on a 14 acre farm. Housing natural materials throughout, and a direct tie to sea farms, the ocean, and a true love for aquaculture, there is a sense of home when you dine here. Freeport Oyster Bar has a carefully curated menu of local seafood with a minimalist’s touch. We believe in allowing the seafood the truly speak for itself. Along side our fresh raw bar offerings our beverage program has a unique tie to history and of course the sea.

Lots of poor reviews about service, not sure if this is from when they are busier but I had SUCH a great experience. It was pretty empty, just 1 or 2 other groups – one of which was the farmer that grows the oysters being served (no pressure!). I was trying my first raw oyster and raw scallop and both my server and the other person there were extremely helpful with having that experience. I am glad I tried it and would try it again! The scallop was by FAR my favorite, so amazing and highly recommend giving it a chance.

We finally made it to the Freeport Oyster Bar! Freeport has been aching for a decent restaurant scene and I feel that this place is a positive contribution! We only stopped in for some oysters, but will plan to go back for lunch before the summer! Their menu was small and pointed at what they do well: seafood! Bonus that when talking to our server, she informed us that the oysters were harvested at 8:00 AM— you can’t get more fresh than that!! Plenty of parking in the LLBean lot. Outdoor seating available!

Incredibly quaint and charming. Brand new spot! Oysters were incredible. My drink was the blueberry mojito. Both me and my guests drinks were on the sweet side, but with 2 shots of soda water, it would have been the perfect refreshment. Local drafts and simple menu, but looks like the owners are raring to make this the go to spot in town. I hope they succeed. Cause I could see it happening.

We were promptly greated by the hostess and opted for bar seats. Our bartender Cadence was attentive, friendly, and made our drinks efficiently and as described. The oyster shucker Austin was GREAT! The oysters were clean, fresh, and displayed nicely. The oysters are OUT OF THIS WORLD flavorful! Love a great east coast oyster! Clam chowder was on point too. Will definitely return.

This morning started with a Google search for great cocktails near me, and this was one of the places that came up. Since my wife loves oysters naturally this is where we ended up. She loved the oysters and the cocktails were amazing. The bartender Brandy obviously loves being a mixologist and she does a fantastic job. Do yourself a favor and stop by and make sure you get an old man and the sea. Five stars.

My husband and I were finding all the lobster roll places we passed on the coast to be closed. We are not oyster eaters but we thought, what the heck, lets see if we can get a lobster roll here. YES not only were the rolls delicious, we could get a small roll (the same size as other’s regular ones) for $15.00. It was delicious, perfectly made, big chunks of lobster. We’d go back in a minute but we were on our way home to Michigan. Best lobster ever.

The cocktails here are exceptional. Shrubs and mixers are made in house. As with any new business, they have a few kinks to work out, that said…for the 2nd day open, they are killing it. Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable on both drinks and oysters. We absolutely will return and enjoy the friendly atmosphere and the patio. Photo: Carthusian Running Amuck and The Dash.
