Great spot for south indian breakfast. The floating idli comes in a bowl full of sambar, with idlis dipped in. The sambar could be better, it tasted more so like andhra lunch sambar, rather than a tiffen sambar. Loved the fiery masala dosa, the potato masala is slathered all over the dosa, with a hint of hotness coming from the spice powder sprinkled atop the potato masala. Masala chai is good, but a bit watery for my liking.

One of the best values in Houston. 5$ for many set items. Had Fiery Dosa, Yummy Idli, and Upma. Idli are not the fluffy kind – the four of them are substantial in size and density – wish there was more chutney. Comes with sambhar and more importantly a fantastic gun powder with ghee. Great value for $5. Upma portion was very good, soft not grainy, and tasty. Dosa was quite good. Accompanying tomato chutney was spicy as heck.

The owner was super nice. Great customer service, they explained the different sauces and how they could be used for the dish. The Magic idlis were very scrumptious and we’ll seasoned and paired well with the more creamy sauce. The stuffed idlis were very delicious as well, with the curry inside I felt like I could eat them without sauce at all and the fact that both idlis were made with rice is fantastic! I started loving samosas because of whole foods but Flying Idlis took it to a whole new level. The Crepe was huge and we’ll seasoned, honestly all the meals were huge and could have been eaten by themselves. The price point on these meals can not be beat in comparison to other offerings and the density of nutrition is astounding we were full for hours. They add an amazing Vegan and Gluten free option to the city that I have come to enjoy.

Love that there’s a nice simple South Indian restaurant in downtown but time and again this place has disappointed at the quality of food when I order take out. It’s like they don’t care for take outs. The Dosa is always undercooked (rava Dosa if anything is supposed to be crispy and not taste like dough) and just FULL of onions and this time has really spicy green chilis which it didn’t last time. The sambar has always leaked and delivered so poorly. Please improve the quality and level of care taken for your take out orders, esp for those who are trying to be loyal customers.

Great place for South Indian breakfast. We had ordered Magic Idlis and Fiery Masala Dosa, and it was pretty tasty. Their Masala Tea was just okay, could be little more flavorful, but filter coffee was better. Great customer service, owner/waiter explained their menu and best sellers with no rush. He even offered and served our 2 orders split in half for us to try both on the same plate as shown in the photo.

The owner takes time to explain to diners who may not be understanding Indian dishes. Very moderately priced, my dosa with the peanut sauce was delicious, and the masala tea washed it down nicely. Ambient atmosphere, about 4 other tables in a small 12 table restaurant, so ideal for uncrowded lunchtime meal. Highly recommended, best Indian cafe I’ve been to.

Good food but bad service. My friend and I ordered takeaway from this restaurant because I loved the food at their other branch. And now since the restaurant is open in downtown I was pretty excited to try them. We ordered 4 different dishes, one of them was rava masala dosa but when we unwrapped it at home there was no masala to be found. Same with spicy red chutney, we asked for extra chutney since we like spicy food and they said they have already put it in the bag. But what we found inside was uber small quantity of chutney to be eaten with 4 dishes, 2 dosas and 2 idli dishes. Highly disappointed on the service side. Hopefully this is an isolated case and won’t happen again. I guess dine in should be good.
