Unfortunately, my visit to Flavors of Italy on the Boardwalk was a complete disappointment. Not only was the restaurant incredibly dirty and unkempt, but the overall atmosphere was unpleasant. The bathrooms were in dire need of cleaning and renovation, adding to the overall unsanitary conditions.

I’ve been coming to Flavors of Italy for over 20 years now. The food has always been quality, especially the variances of pizza. Today, I got the Pep with ricotta cheese, it was a thin crust, had a couple bubbles but perfect tasting!

Location is nice as it’s right in the boardwalk. Seems that’s all they expect to make customers happy. Service was fine, food was not. Kids said the baked ziti was good, wife had average Alfredo. I had the beef kabob and rice. The Kabob was delicious, the rice was disgusting. I couldn’t for myself to eat it. The bathroom was gross, it looks like it’s never been cleaned. There are better options on the boardwalk.

To set the scene, 5 travel weary people, 3 of which are kids have been on the road for 12 hours and are starving for some decent sit down food. We passed up a lot of options to get here. First impressions, the place is small inside (it was a bit too chilly to eat outside) and doesn’t have any tables for 5. We had to split up across a 4 top and a 2 top on the opposite side of the aisle way and it was still quite tight. We immediately notice an unsettling number of flies buzzing around at least one of the tables. Our order was taken promptly though and we got 4 dishes to share amongst each other. Chicken Parmesan with spaghetti and tomato sauce, three cheese ziti, fettuccine alfredo and a thin crust cheese pizza. The pizza was unfortunately somewhat disappointing. The crust was tough and it was not cut well enough so all the cheese just slid off as we tried to get it apart. The fettuccine alfredo was more like fettuccine and olive oil, with little to no actual Alfredo sauce. No one really complained, but the lack of actual Alfredo sauce was disappointing. The Chicken Parmesan and three cheese ziti, on the other hand were redeeming. The portion of ziti was huge and it was tasty. The chicken parmesan came with 2 large pieces of chicken covered in a fresh tomato sauce and mozzarella and a heaping pile of spaghetti. The chicken parmesan and three cheese ziti could feed 2 people each very easily, and for the price, it should. They also brought bread to each of the tables, and it was quite good as well.
