5 stars is not enough to convey how quality every visit is and how good the food is. This little one man home in the wall is one of if not my absolute favorite dining experience. The location itself is small but the food is always so unbelievably good. I love coming by and eating. I absolutely suggest getting either the pineapple fried rice with the seared salmon or the Fish Pit poke bowl. They’re both to die for. Please if you’re in the area you have to try the food here. It’s amazing.

I had a really high hopes for this place, I’ve heard nothing but great things. But unfortunately I did not have the same experience. The guy was really nice but the food quality was unacceptable. This two things were $20. The shrimp taco came with a stale tortilla that was stiff. The sushi roll also came pre-seasoned with soy sauce which is unfortunate because it was entirely too salty, which I think was to mask the smell and poor taste. Overall do not recommend 🙁

Gave me food poisoning- no joke was sick for days. There were pots and pans on the floor. Sink was overflowing. Operator never washed his hands. On the prep rack there were chemicals stacked above food items which could lead to poison or contamination. Place was a disaster. Do not go here. I was so sick.

The food is delicious, the seafood is fresh, the staff is friendly, and the prices are decent. Limited parking and seating, so I believe most will order and take-out. We ordered the nachos, traditional salmon poke, and two tacos.

I tried this place on vacation while in San Diego and I wasn’t a huge fan at all. If you plan to visit know there is only outdoor seating. On the day I went, there was only one person working, so I had to wait on the previous person food to be cooked before I could order. Once I ordered my food and took it to go, the food was okay. It was nothing that wowed me. I ordered a tuna taco, a fish taco and a spicy tuna roll. The food was bland to me and lacked flavor. I won’t be back when I’m in San Diego.

Raze this place. Dirty, unclean and the chef was not cool. Came here for a sushi rolling class and the “chef” used his bare unwashed hands to dole out rice. Do better.

Have to say the concept was good but poorly executed. The place is super small and there is one person cooking and another that keeps running to the liquor store to get beverages. I have never seen a restaurant that doesn’t at least have water. What drew me there was the idea of fresh local fish. What will keep me from going back was the hygiene of the person cooking. The “chef” was drinking beer and tasting the food as he was cooking. This is a huge no in the food safety world. He was wiping his sweat with his shirt. No apron. No gloves. He was using his sushi knife to cut other things. Nothing was cleaned or sanitized. He sneezed on the back of his hand and had to be told to wash his hands and then promptly put his hands to his face after washing his hands. Not sure what 8 hour food manager class he took but he sure needs a do-over and his license to operate a restaurant revoked. I only had one dish and left as I didn’t want to risk getting sick and I walked out. Dine at your own risk.

We just ate the most amazing fish tonight. Zak was very personal and professional. The restaurant isn’t fancy by any means but that’s what made it special. He prepared our meal as we visited with him. I would recommend eating here. Especially if you’re looking for an extraordinary experience.

Great hidden gem, the best quality fish and dishes that are made with effort and care. Well worth the trip.

Loved the small, personal feel of this establishment. Had the Baja fish tacos, pine-apple rice topped with seared tuna, California Roll, and Hawaiian Fire Roll. The food was excellent, and the service! The best way to describe it would be to imagine your best friend is a gourmet seafood and sushi chef, and they’ve invited you over to try their latest delicacies. An ever changing and evolving menu to keep you coming back. When you’re in the area, or wanting to go for a drive, make a pit stop at the Fish Pit. I guarantee you’ll be glad you did.
