We’re Dexter locals, with a bit of Ann Arbor flash. Our team has a bunch more years in the restaurant business than we want to count. Now we’re making the place we’d want to hang out in. And, maybe show some friends. The Fillmore Bar and Grill is like a finding a new secret neighborhood place that was there all along. We’re cool, but not snobby. Fun, but not obnoxious. You’ll feel like you’re hanging out at a good friends place.

First time for me visiting here today, I was very disappointed with the kitchen. I ordered a strip steak with a side of brussel sprouts that was listed as the very first starter item on the menu. When I received my dish, the brussel sprouts were beyond charred and the steak was very fatty and also undercooked and no longer warm. I let our amazing waitress know and before she even got to our table she also noticed how burnt the brussel sprouts were. She took it back and apologized greatly. When I got my new dish back, it felt like a slap to the face. I got a smaller and even more fatty piece of steak (even the waitress noticed that) and the brussel sprouts were once again charred. I also wasn’t given any blue cheese/butter topping and no ketchup for the fries, not even a fork! Our waitress did everything she could to save this situation and you can tell she was working very hard, possibly even overworked. The manager did take the meal off our bill and offered us a gift card, but I have no desire to return after seeing how minimal the amount of care went into fixing the actual problem from the kitchen. We did not want to tip on our bill since the waitress was really the only one who deserved it for working so hard, so we handed the gift card back and asked for the amount to be given in cash to our waitress as a tip. I’m really hoping that they stuck to their word with that! Pictured is the brussel sprouts I was given for the ”new” dish, featuring the fork I had to borrow from a table next to us!

Great restaurant. Good service and food. Place was empty when we came on a Tuesday afternoon.

No more reservations needed. Come by anytime! I guess the word hadn’t gotten out yet, as it wasn’t very busy for a Friday night, but usually it’s packed.

I give restaurants two visits before commenting on them. The atmosphere is very nice with interesting architectural features. Last fall I tried the pulled pork sandwich and I found it to be drowned in sauce but otherwise tasteless. My spouse had a poke bowl and loved it. Tonight we decided to give it another try and sat at the bar. I ordered a cosmopolitan and it was primarily cranberry juice. I think it appeared that they had pre made mixers and I could really tell. We ordered bang bang shrimp and it was so overcooked and dry and had no flavor. The worst I have ever had. We then ordered a burger medium rare as I was afraid to try anything adventurous after the shrimp. It was burnt on the outside and well done. I did send that back no apology from the staff. They tossed us the new one with the same French fries from the original burger. The fries were cold. The staff seemed angry and never once asked us how our food was or engaged us in conversation. I normally tip 30% or higher but I tipped a flat 20%. I will never go back. This was a bummer of a Saturday evening.

Food was very good we had the Mahi tacos and Fillmore fries. The ketchup was oh so good.

Very strange flavors and mild and strong ups and downs in the flavors and textures of every dish. Nachos had a disturbing flavor that was very overpowering in the beans and cheese was like soup. Sauce in the garlic, white wine pasta was broken and had no flavor.

Support of local restaurants is important to me, but at the same time there needs to be value. Tonight I met friends for dinner, my total order included one of their specialty drinks (I think it was called an “Agnes”, it was good), a salad (no protein added), and a Bell’s beer. The bill was over $33 and I left hungry. Understand that the salad was good, but it was small and cost $16. For those with money to burn, this is great. I’m not one of those people. Compare the size of the salad plate to the fork and you’ll see what I mean. The staff was friendly and other than being a little loud (it was Friday night) I enjoy the decor. But I need more value for my hard earned dollars.

The whitefish sandwich I ordered was so soggy it fell apart in my hands. I had to eat it with a fork. The gazpacho soup was absolutely the worst I have ever eaten; was unable to even finish it. The only plus was our waitress was very efficient and pleasant. I shall not return.

Yet another place that is too lazy to update their website with the correct information. The happy hour is 3-5 not 3-6 as advertised.

Wonderful brunch selection and great service. I enjoyed the huevos rancheros and my wife had the vegetable omelet. Both were perfect!
