The TLDR of my experience at Fata Morgana is that it was simultaneously fine dining and also a lovingly made home cooked meal from your Mediterranean family.

American adaptation of an Israeli grill restaurant (shipudia). We had take out. The grilled chicken skewers and the poppers (shnitelonim) were very tasty.

I am a regular diner in Scottsdale, eating out 5-7 times per week. Today, we went to Fata Morgana for lunch which was certainly the worst possible experience I have had in any Scottsdale restaurant.

Service was fine. But the food was a total let down. We shared a mixed grill. The steak was of the lowest quality, lots of fat and gristle. Chicken kabob was mediocre at best. The grilled chicken breast was a small frozen piece like on a sandwich, very thin, which is going to be dry because it’s so thin. Kafta didn’t taste very good. I’ve been to hundreds of Lebanese to various similar places like Greek and other Middle Eastern restaurants, and unfortunately these guys dropped the ball on all the quality of our food. I might try one more time on a month to see if they fix it, but doubtful. Also I’m not being harsh for a $52 plate of subpar food, at this price I expect great food. This was a $17 meal and I still would have been turned off by their lack of quality.

The best kosher mediterranean cuisine in all of Arizona! I had the Sabich sandwich, hummus and falafel balls. The hummus was creamy and had the most amazing flavor! The Sabich and falafel were mouthwatering! Everything was fresh, clean and so delicious!

I came here on a date with my wife and was immediately impressed with the authentic Israeli dishes and flavors. I’m fact, we were so impressed with the food and service that we hired them to cater our daughter’s Quinceanera on the spot. They handled the party beautifully from A-Z. Will definitely be coming back for our regular date night and for our future catering needs.
