Good hole in the wall Chinese food. We ordered a variety of options for dinner and ended up having to pack a lot of food, portions are huge.

We ordered bun for dinner on Saturday, we had it right away and the bun have this hard shell like it was left over night! They used to have good food, but we won’t be coming back any more unless the owner recognize they are turning away customers. Having fresh buns is a requirement to even sell it in a restaurant! Can’t believe it.

I called restaurant on Sunday, 4/23/23 around 6:15pm because I saw a picture of a dish on google but was not sure if I found the dish on menu when I was trying to order online.

We got takeout just before closing time so not much was available. The jianbing baocui was no longer crispy by the time we ate it. It would be better if the crispy filling was kept separate. The zhacai rou si mian was quite plain but perfect for a late night dinner. Overall rating was “OK” from someone who spent years in Tianjin.

I’m from Tianjin China and am really disappointed by the food quality and price. The meat in wonton had gone bad. Last time I saw someone who ordered the cold dish wanted to take all the chicken legs and they just gave them to her. Their food was very pricy(even for bay area) and it was super oily&salty(in the bad way, unlike like how oil helped in Sichuan food). If you like their dishes, try Taiwan porridge king, much better quality and price. If you like their breakfast, try nutrition restaurant. If you like tianjin food, try taste good Beijing cuisine(still pricy, but quality better than this). Shame for the owners. Can’t believe you’re also from tianjin!

This feels almost like a secret place and you have to know the password to get in… But no, it’s for everyone. You walk in and there is a large array of hot dishes in trays and you pick three and you get rice and soup and more than you can eat for $10. I got the basil chicken, the tofu with fish and fish sauce which was amazing and egg plant that was good but not great. I think the meets are going to be the strong suit. I still give it five stars it’s fantastic place and all the locals know it so you have to not come exactly at noon but you’re gonna have to wait in line as you can see. The people who run it are super nice also.

My first experience trying Tianjin food, as a Malaysian visiting America. Must say i enjoyed the smoked chicken a lot, but as for the rest, they are quite decent although overall not super impressed. My native Tianjin friend tells me that it reminds her of home. (I didn’t get to eat their dumplings as they ran out that day.)

authentic jianpongguozi 煎饼果子, weekend only, crispy and good source mild spicy. Small space though, be prepared to come early or 10-15 mins wait to be seated during weekends.
