I moved away and was not present for my best friend’s birthday. Because I could not bake the cake myself I was nervous about ordering one, as cakes are often too sweet and dredged in icing. I called Exotic Syrian because they have a specialty order Pistachio Cake. The woman on the phone was kind and patient with my questions. And the cake… “Perhaps one of the best I’ve ever had,” he reported. Soft and fluffy, pistachio forward, with notes of orange blossom and rose water, and just enough icing to complement the medley of flavors, that took him to childhood memories of home. Thank you for the care that was put into this birthday surprise.

If you have not been to this deli you are seriously missing out on amazing Mediterranean food! I went for one of their custom bowls (salads topped with baba ghanoush and red pepper sauce) and honestly, had never experienced a burst of flavors so mind blowing and refreshing! They have a bunch of vegetarian options which is a big plus. The owner is really polite, talkative (in the best way possible) and so hard working! I am definitely coming back again 🙂

We tried this place for a bday cake – Fruit Chaunte.

Was lucky enough to meet the owner while on the job. She was so nice I had to check out her bakery. Worth the visit. Had the Syrian burrito. Huge. Similar to some shwarmas that I am familiar with, but unique and packed with flavor. Spicy ♥️

I’d give this place 10 if I could. Everything here is delicious, and homemade. The service is amazing. This is one of the best restaurants in Washtenaw County hands down!

Delicious food, well priced for the quality and quantity, and the vegan options are clearly marked! Definitely worth checking out.

I have loved this place for years and years. Delicious food every time. The rice pudding is like little clouds of heaven. I only wish I could go there more often and that the rice pudding was in stock more often!!

I’ve enjoyed this place for more then 15 years but haven’t been in while. When they came to my mind I was excited about going to the counter and ordering all my favorites but to my disappointment they weren’t open to the public due to lack of help. As a family business, I wondered if this is true or just the standard excuse that many use to push off your disappointment. Yet I was willing to conform to their system of ordering outside and waited for my over $35 order. They did come quickly with my order as I was the only one waiting outside. Even with this little bleep in the experience, I was still excited to get home and enjoy my favorites but to my major disappointment most of the items were not so good; the Kefta was dry and the Cucumber Yogurt tasted like the plastic container. The Spinach Devine was still able to hold its own. Usually I enjoy more then one meal with my ala carte ordering style but I had to throw it all in the trash. I’m only willing to go back if the deli/bakeries counter is open again to the public and I can see my options. I’m not really to give up yet on one of my A2 favorites so please Exotic take this feedback to heart!

Rice in mujadara was mealy; lentils were mushy. The dish was like a dry, stale, bean and rice porridge. Tasted like butter(?) had been added to the dish. No crispy onion. Loubieh (green beans in tomato sauce) tasted like commercial refrigerator burn, despite the woman’s assurance it had been made that morning (odd). Paid almost $20 for the two dishes. Had to throw both away they were so bad. Worst food I’ve had in years. Woman also warmed food in cheap clear plastic containers in the microwave without asking. Would have preferred to eat both cold. There’s much better to be had in AA for $20.

This is my absolute favorite place in Ann Arbor (probably all of Michigan). I’ve had just about every item on the menu at this point and would order every single item every time if I could. It’s even the best coffee in town if you ask me!
