Wasn’t as impressed as I was hoping my experience to be. This location was out of everything because they were focused on closing right on time (an hour and a half before their closing time). The sauce on my chicken was incorrect making the heat level “Hot Damn” the same as my husband’s which made my mouth numb so I wasn’t able to taste nor enjoy my meal. However, there’s more than one spot so it’s worth a second attempt, just at a different location.

I ordered a catering package for about 35 people. The food was so good!! It was still hot when it got delivered and we had everything we needed. My only complaint was that they didn’t include enough ranch, BUT I called the store and they brought a big tray of ranch for us immediately. Eugene’s is top tier and wayyyy better than Hattie B’s. It’s also locally owned!

Unfortunately, I can only give them one star. This is my second visit here. The first time, they did not give me a pork chop I ordered with my wings. This time, they didn’t have any chops. Which is perfectly fine. I have no issue with that. Firstly, the French fries I received were hard as toothpicks. The fries were refried in grease to warm them up. I had to toss them. They were inedible. Secondly, the chicken was ABSOLUTELY inedible!! I worked in a chicken shack in Washington D.C. for five years. I know exactly what happened. The grease they used, was old and burned. NEVER FRY CHICKEN IN BURNED OIL! I smelled it as soon as I opened the box. The chicken had black spots everywhere. It didn’t adhere to the meat. I lifted the wing and it fell off. The grease permeated the meat. The flour burned and the meat absorbed all the grease. I ordered traditional wings. You can see the grease and chicken in the picture I provided. The bread was SOAKED in grease under the chicken. TRADITIONAL wings. I’m out $15. I tried to give it to my dog, he wouldn’t eat it. I will not be returning. I hope you have a better experience.

I’ve been on this hot chicken kick lately, and this isby far the best I’ve had in Alabama. It was prepared fresh and hot and was extremely juicy. The standard hot was just the right amount of hot that didn’t over power the flavor. The fries…where just fries(I didn’t come for fries). Great filling meal.

I have been here about 5 times and each time is great….up until this last time. I usually come when they first open but this time I came for dinner. Usually my food is hot and fresh but this time, it tasted unfresh and like it had been sitting a while. The fries were hard and cold and the chicken was dry and cold. The people are always so friendly and offer great service, so I’m guessing I just caught them on an off day. I know the greatness of this place so I won’t hold it against them, I just hope this last experience won’t become the new norm. I didn’t bring it to their attention because I have social anxiety and don’t like to complain, but like I said every other time has been great! I’ll continue to eat here unless the issue keeps happening. I love Eugene’s chicken!

Everything was DELICIOUS! The only reason for four instead of five stars is that my fried okra was not fresh. It tasted excellent but it was not even warm to the touch. Now on to the positives because there are many. I had the jumbo fried wings (hot sauce) with pickled fried okra. My wife had the Chicken strips (hot sauce) with mac and cheese. The wings and strips were both perfectly fried and nicely seasoned. The hot sauce had just the right kick of heat to let you know it was there without being overpowering to the point where you couldn’t enjoy your food. The Mac and Cheese was nice, creamy and full of flavor. The fried okra as stated earlier was on point, I just wish it was cooked to order like the chicken was. I’m not here to bash any other establishment so I won’t say any names but Eugene’s has the BEST hot chicken in the area hands down in my opinion. I don’t care how many reviews other places have, the best is right here. Try the others then come to Eugene’s and try the best!

I have to say, it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the friendly staff and a clean, inviting atmosphere. But what really blew me away was the fried chicken – it was absolutely incredible! Every bite was crispy, juicy and full of flavor. I couldn’t get enough! Overall, I highly recommend Eugene’s Fried Chicken to anyone who loves great food and great service. It’s clear that the team at this restaurant takes pride in what they do, and it shows in every aspect of the dining experience. I will definitely be back for more delicious fried chicken!
