Great place with lots of varierity of food. It’s unfortunate that some options were not available the day i went. It is also a bit expensive for what it is. It’s worth it, but still, a bit too expensive.

I’ve been to the Essen in Madison Avenue and realized the food is same quality and same variety. I’m really impressed with their excellence service and standards. This is indubitably my got-to for lunch. My friend that I brought also loved the food. This place is pretty close to the road and can be easily noticed from vehicle in normal traffic. There’s also wheelchair accessible entrance for the differently able.

Essen is a large establishment with a huge variety of choices. Well kept and constantly a flow of traffic in and out. Mostly self self serve but staff is eager to answer your questions.

I come here all the time before work but today I’m extremely disappointed. I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese on a roll and was handed a sandwich that was cold and I was given egg that had been sitting on the grill (overcooked). I asked the guys if they could please give me a warm one with melted cheese and they threw it in the microwave and handed me the same sandwich AND charged me 50 cents more for it. For $6+ for a BEC you’d think there would be more effort and I could get a fresh sandwich instead of eggs that have been sitting around and are overcooked. I’m so disappointed and usually they have good sandwiches. Feels like a waste of money because I couldn’t even eat any of the egg and the bread was soggy and chewy from the microwave.

Great lunch spot to grab sushi, sandwiches and there is also a buffet. Gloves are provided for safety. The food here was delicious. Laid out really well and helpful staff. Lines move very quickly. There is seating upstairs.

Good food for an affordable price. I went there fore breakfast. There was fresh fruits, yogurt, and a lot of options in a hot buffet. Not so clean. The cashier’s were not very friendly. The atmosphere is not enjoyable at all. There are some tables to seat. It is a place to enter, get the food, eat quickly and go.

My iced latte was terrible. Really tasteless. Weak coffee and made with a thick, heavy cream. It tasted of plain cream- despite getting extra shots of coffee. I’m not even a huge coffee drinker and I found it weak. Also my fresh fruit pot looked delicious and fresh, but when I ate it I could taste the fruit was a bit soggy and old. Hard to find decent fresh fruit in this city, at least this place tries I suppose!?

I ordered through Grubhub and the food arrived within an hour. Nothing was missing from the order. I ordered the chicken tacos platter it was a little spicy but okay. The Essen Cob Salad with dressing was too salty for me. I did enjoy the Chicken Club Pannini. I wasn’t impressed with the food.

The food is fresh and delicious. There are so many options and dishes to choose from. They have already made hot food, but you can also order smoothies and a variety of Asian dishes. There is a good amount of seating upstairs and is not too cramped.

Large variety of very good food at this “slow fast food” location on the corner of 8th Ave and 36th Street. The place offers select your own items and pay by the weight as well as panini sandwiches, burgers, salads and wood oven sandwiches. The staff is always courteous and always where gloves for cleanliness. I order a pizza burger (burger with mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce) deluxe with a bottled coke for a cost of $11.70 (not a bad price for such a large portion in NYC). The burger is very juicy and the steak fries are good too! I always see repeat customers at this location and would recommend others to try.
