I eat thai food a lot and cook myself too. Here we ordered several items. Wasnt impressed that much. Blanket shrimp was very oily. Veggie pineapple fried rice was crazy oily, the plate has oil on the bottom, while eating you cant eat anything except oil in your mouth. Cashew nut chicken was okay but mushrooms has very wierd taste in it. The things I really liked were thai iced tea and tom yum soup. Soup had a little less water compared to the amount of vegetables in it but taste was good. Among other entrees chicken and shrimp fried was fine. Curry was okay. Service was good though.

Just marvellous. I’ve been there a few times, tried nearly all their menu, and never got disappointed. Also, the prices of the lunch menu during workdays are really, really competitive.

For the past 7 years, Esan Thai has been one of my favorite restaurants in Bloomington. The portions are plentiful, the food is delicious, and the staff has always been great even though it can get packed and busy at times. Also, if you enjoy Pad Thai as much as I do, then this restaurant is a must. Don’t miss out, this place is the real deal.

Used to be good – last time I was there was my birthday, service was non-existent (which happens in a college town if not managed well). AND we all felt ill after eating. The rice smelled and tasted like it was made in old dish water. There are better Thai restaurants in town.

First of all, best Thai place in Bloomington. I’ve been going here for almost eight years and I can always expect great service and incredible food. I recommend the Pad Kra Prow with chicken. I never go above 2.5 stars of spicy because it gets a little hot past that point for me. This place is definitely a gem!

Food is not so good, customer service is the worst that I have encountered. They do not care about what you order, bring you the wrong one, and when you tell them that is not what you ordered, they (the woman stands at the desk) yell at you. I ordered red curry but I got yellow curry with the ingredients of green curry (I know, it is like a joke). I told her that I do not eat eggplant, then she yelled at me and said “take them out.” When we tried to tell her that the menu does not say red curry has eggplant, she said “I don’t care what the menu says, this is how we do it. We mix everything and put it into curry.” I was shocked by her answer and her constantly yelling at us. There were two other customers in the restaurant, they were also shockingly watching her yelling at us. She was extremely rude. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Also if you have food allergies (like eggplant), make sure that you check your dish thoroughly before eating it, as the owner herself said that this is Thai food, and they mix all the vegetables and put them in all curry types.

Went here a few months ago for a friend’s birthday. Food was good and reasonably priced, and portions were big. Decor was lacking but the people working there were very nice. Great place for a group of college kids looking to eat at a sit-down place on a budget.

When I ask for painfully spicy dishes they oblige my request to the letter. I love their food. Lots of vegetable matter to balance the protein. Well seasoned. Closer to authentic Thai than most places in town.

Best restaurant for thai in Bloomington. It’s a bit more expensive than others, but quality and quantity of the food is always very high. I have never been disappointed eating here. Get the #50 curry, it’s amazing!

My favorite restaurant in all of Bloomington! I love the Nua Yang Esan with beef! So different than any other Thai food I’ve tried! Go go get! Seriously, go! You won’t be sorry! (P.S. Their spicy is SPICY! I like spicy and I go with three star spice.)
