Great food and service to match. My family has been going to Empress for years and like many others had noticed a sharp decline in quality in the recent past. We tried it again for the first time in nearly a year and were blown away at the improvement. Everything was fresh, hot and huge portions. We all agreed that it is better now than it ever was before. Glad to see the turnaround and will definitely be back.

I have no complaints about Empress of China despite eating at the establishment multiple times. I’ve always been wowed by their egg drop soup and generous portion sizes. It’s one of the few places I need a Togo box and get excited that I won’t have to cook later. Prices are somewhat cheap but the food doesn’t show it. Their menu is vast so unless you don’t eat I reckon you’ll find something you like whether you’re vegan or on Atkins. Great food for the money, good service, above and beyond restaurant.

Just tried to have dinner at the Empress. We dine there pretty regularly, and the service has been prompt, food good and we’re in and out without a lot of waiting. Tonight was the worst dining experience I’ve had at the Empress. This was an 1.5 hour of waiting on food that never came. Our pan-fired dumplings, which are normally excellent, were burned on the bottom and cold. The waitress asked me 3 times what my order was, finally brought my wife her food after an hour and her food was cold. My food arrived 30 minutes later, and the order was wrong. I asked for the check, paid and left.

Worst restaurant I have ever eaten in. I ordered the crispy duck. What came, was nothing like the menu description and it was inedible. My husband ordered the mixed k bobs. The beef and chicken were so over cooked they could not be chewed. My sister ordered marinated chicken wings. They were not marinated, were cooked in old grease, and were hard as rocks. My brothers food was also bad. The cheesecake was horrible. The shrimp tempura was raw on the inside.

Been here a few times. I like good hot sour soup, and love shrimp toast. Prices are a bit high, but I can’t find shrimp toast at most places.

Who are these people who’ve had all these outlandish experiences here? Our family has been coming here for 10 yrs for lunch and never had anything but great food and great servers. We have stopped in for dinner a few times & had take out several times in the evening with same food quality and service as our lunch experiences.

While the food is good, the service was less than good today. The server had zero personality and never once offered to refill our tea. It was like he was simply doing us a favor even waiting on us. I’ve eaten at the Empress of China restaurants in both Irving and Grapevine and have never experienced this bad service. Even though this one is closer, I think I’ll stick with the other two. I’ve eaten at those two for a number of years and was really happy to find one a few minutes drive from my home. Looks like that won’t happen again.

My wife and I consistently get take-out from here, and their managers are consistently, and extremely, rude.

Quit going to the Highland Village Empress of China 2 years ago, as the food quality had declined precipitously. Went back today, hoping it had improved, but it was the same mushy, over cooked food with poor flavor. No one was in the restaurant at 7:30 pm on a Saturday night. The Irving location is far better, but too far away. People saying this is good food must not be familiar with good Chinese food. This used to be good, but no more. Don’t waste your money.

Very unsure how I could be living near this place practically since birth and not know about it. I know that PF Changs is a very different animal (Fusion vs. Traditional) but for the longest time that’s the only place we knew served decent crispy duck. That said- Holy goodness- Forget PF Changs. Besides the fact they took duck off the menu ages ago and they charged the same price for 8 measly slices of breast meat- this was a million years better, practically served half a duck and pretty much NEXT DOOR.
