El Traditional Mexican Restaurant & Cantina in The Glen, Glenview, offers a mix of experiences that left me with somewhat mixed feelings. While the food was passable, I couldn’t overlook the fact that the service and wait time were major letdowns.

The staff always showed up at an appropriate time to take our order and pour us water. They were always super friendly, cheerful, and nice. The frozen margaritas were delicious. The food was definitely authentic. We will definitely go there again.

Had some tacos and chicken sandwich and they were all great. The kids menu is diverse and delicious too. Over all had a great experience sitting outside.

They make the best margaritas ever!!! Also, I love love all of their plates all very well prepared, seasoned, and very authentic. The vibes are very nice they always have music and it’s a very lively atmosphere. One of my fave Mexican burb spots.

The establishment gets 3 stars for a pretty good margarita but the food is subpar, at best. My friend ordered a grilled chicken taco salad and I ordered grilled chicken tacos. The chicken had a really strange, rubbery texture and the seasoning was bland. When my friend addressed this with the waiter, his reply was “you should’ve have ordered the more “traditional” fare.” My thought reply was “so you mean to tell me that unless a customer goes with the “traditional fare”, expect your food to taste bad….wow “.

Had a great time here after work. I would highly recommend trying them out. Keep in mind it’s a bit pricey and it gets very busy so it’s hard to get attentive service.

REALLY good food here! Mar Y Tiera dinner, Queso Fundito and the shrimp cocktail appetizers are standards when I go. The base margarita is REALLY good. All fresh ingredients. Staff is fast to remember you and your last order. The service is excellent! Great patio in the summer.

Service was excellent at the beginning. When I asked why our order took around 30 minutes to come out it went downhill. They said he ordered a special made order which we’ve ordered the same at Many other restaurants without having to wait around 30 minutes for it to come out. An honest answer would have been preferred. Thank you.

Fantastic food, service and ambience!!! Always consistent and the live music is fabulous! The enchiladas and skirt steak are amazing!!! This restaurant is one of the best, if not the best in the Glen!!!!

Price to quality of food, it was ok. Nothing to rave about. Decent meal, but for the amount I paid I’ve had better. I wouldn’t bother ordering the ceviche. It was very bland and not very flavorful. The service was ok. Overall.. it’s an ok spot, nothing that really wowed me. The ambiance was nice with the patio open.
