This is by far the whitest Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to. The beans and potatoes were the best part of 3 plates. The huevos rancheros sauce was ok, didn’t taste authentic. Breakfast tacos are alright, even taco cabana can make those. I recommend the potato and egg. The chicken quesadilla on the other hand, was a no go. They didn’t come with beans or rice, only the quesadilla and the little side salad. Flavor was off, I don’t know if it’s the cheese or how the taste changes with the chicken, but it just didn’t taste right. My girlfriend who gets quesadillas 95% of the time said she wouldn’t get it from here again and didn’t even finish it. What I didn’t really like was that the digital menu on the table says there’s certain combos available when they aren’t even serving them. I paid $40 for 3 people but the food wasn’t worth $40. On the bright side, servers were nice and you get unlimited chips and salsa.

I’ve had breakfast tacos here many times and they were always fresh, tasty and satisfying. I decided to try something new so I ordered their Poblano Power Bowl. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor combinations and tasty healthiness I felt while eating. It’s so nice to indulge with no guilt! It was loaded with seasoned chicken strips, roasted poblano pepper and just ripe avocado slices. I may have found a new favorite lunch item. Of course I enjoyed the warm tortilla chips and salsa bar while waiting for my food. The staff are friendly and helpful and El Taco has a large selection of yummy Mexican food. It’s located in a strip mall on the corner of Stone Oak Drive and Heubner Road.

A clean taco shop with large breakfast tacos, free chips, a clean salsa bar, and a fresh environment.

There are a few taco places in Stone Oak and in fact there is a good one right around the corner of this place but I feel this one just edges out the others. On any given day one or the other spot may have a better flavor but this taco spot has all day breakfast tacos, a good selection of salsas, fresh warm free tortilla chips, and, very importantly, a good selection of aqua Fresca (fresh usually fruit flavored drinks.) Now before El Taco opened the one nearby was my goto spot but they have odd hours and were closed most of the time I went. In fact, if I wanted to go I would call ahead the day before to make sure they would be open, El Taco has better hours and that’s pretty important.

A friend told me this place was good. I had an appointment in the area at breakfast time, so I stopped in. Wow, their bacon, egg, and chorizo tacos are so good. I had never had any breakfast tacos like that. Now I have to make plans to go for lunch!

So disappointing. No idea where the “great food and great service” reviews came from, but I suspect those may be from friends of the owner and staff. For $2.99, we got a container of canned nacho cheese for our chips and queso, and only after asking twice for it. The chicken fajitas were cooked on a griddle with no discernible seasoning, and the salsa bar was basically Pace picante sauce, which may have been the highlight of our $13 taco lunch. Smells and tastes like everything available from a can is served from a can, rather than using fresh ingredients. Floors, tables, and windows are all dirty, and the staff apparently has no worries about any of it. San Antonio has lots of really good tacos, but none to be found here. Thumbs down.

We went here for dinner the other night. It was ok. I got beef enchiladas which came with beans, rice and some lettuce and tomato. The enchiladas seemed a little salty for me. The entire plate seemed really basic. My husband got nachos which had a mix of real and nacho cheese. Again really basic. And we got a kids enchilada plate. They do have a nice selection of drinks and salsas. Over all it was decent for the price but a little underwhelming.

Chip warmer was the best idea! Good food too. Staff was happy and helpful. We had a good experience for sure. And next time we are near the Temple, we are likely to return to L Taco again.

I love their green salsa, the veggie taco with papa, anything with asada on it and my kids love their pancakes. Always a great service and employees are friendly and helpful
