I tried…I really tried with this place. I was alone for a few hours, and I drove past this establishment on my way to another one…I should’ve kept driving!! I ordered the 4 Street Taco special, chicken, with everything (cilantro, onions, and sauce), and The 2 ground beef tacos, beans, and rice special and the Strawberry Jarrito. Where to start!? The tortillas were cold and greasy, the 3 toppings were spaced haphazardly, and the chicken was BLAND and unflavored, almost full-on white, and dry. I tried to eat them but just couldn’t. Not even the bottled hot sauce could rescue the meal. I switched to the 2 tacos, beans, and rice… hoping to salvage my dinner. WRONG! Again, cold tortillas, greasy ground beef, cheese that couldn’t melt, and again… complete lack of ANY flavor. I couldn’t, in good faith, even choke it down. Even the 3 CFD personnel sitting next to me made comments about the lack of flavor. I finished my soda and left unfulfilled. While the business was brisk with customers, I feel they only come here because it’s the only Mexican restaurant on this side of Chico. This is the most lackadaisical Mexican restaurant in town. Avoid it like the plague, and visit any other restaurant in town…Please!? Your wallet and stomach will thank you.

Was lunchtime and place was quiet, I ordered the fish taco plate for $10.99 and a drink 3.99. When I got my plate, I was expecting more than 1 taco for the price.

Friendly staff. Clean restaurant. Excellent food that tasted fresh. I got two ground beef tacos; one hard shell, one soft shell.

I don’t know what happened, but the taste and quality has gone down FAST. This place used to have the best nachos. I’ve tried them a few times recently just to make sure it wasn’t just a bad day, but no! The meat is undercooked all the time, or smells like it’s gone bad. And somehow they still thought it was a good idea to increase the prices significantly. Insane.

I ordered carnitas tacos. They were so salty I couldn’t eat them. I got their special which included 4 tacos but they only allow one choice of meat. The condition of the floors in the place are dangerous. The restaurant is very run down. Needles to say, I won’t be going back.

This was the worst I have eaten in 70 years. Dry, if you were to add everything you need to make this taste better, it would cost you 20.00 or more. Go to a truck that makes athinic Mexican food. This place is a over priced joke. I don’t recommend.

I’m not sure who wrote that negative review supposedly written by me. I love this place & always have. The staff has always been super kind & their Tostada salad is the best in Chico!

Generous portions, decent quality, but mediocre flavor. With so much great Mexican food in town it’s hard to recommend El patron.

Best nachos ever! Used to live in Chico and after 17 years of being gone, came back, ordered same nachos and not a thing changed! Taste acually brought back soo many memories! Something about the thick chips and shredded chicken and that nacho cheese they use.. Sooo good!

This is my second time eating from El Patron. The first time fell flat; no add ins on my burrito that I paid for, blandish flavors, just disappointing but it was a HUGE portion.
