Very good Vegan menu. Many dishes to choose from and all dishes can be prepared in different ways. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good atmosphere in the restaurant. Love it there and go quite often for a delicious Vegan lunch.

We went late afternoon. You order at the counter and they call your order when it’s ready. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food came out hot and delicious. You really get a good value for your money. The flavor was so good and the meats were cooked well. Reminded me of my family’s cooking. We also took home a strawberry Agua Fresca and YUM. Can’t wait to try the other flavors. We will definitely be back and this is our new go-to Mexican for our neighborhood.

This is a place everyone has to visit. They have very authentic Mexican food such as tacos (small tortilla), burritos, great quesadillas, ice cream and “aguas frescas” flavored water. We had some “tacos de asada” steak tacos, quesadilla, and fries. All was great!

Asada burrito didn’t even look like asada in the burrito look like shredded beef the flavor was not good for a carne asada burrito rice had no flavor at all i tasted more of the shredded lettuce for 4.6 stars I would expect better tasting food an actual carne asada

We visit authentic Mexican restaurants every chance we get. This is probably the worst I’ve ever had. We ordered 7 carne asada tacos, a carne asada burrito that came with fries, chicken/steak fajitas that came with beans and rice, a side of beans and rice, guacamole and chips and 3 sodas the total was $68. They don’t have complimentary chips and salsa or queso to purchase. The chips were burnt. The portion of fries and fajitas were very small. There were no toppings for the fajitas such as lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, pico……the food is very bland and not flavorful. The steak was like pot roast…had to ask for silverware and then was given a plastic fork and spoon. I would go elsewhere!! Poor quality of food.

El Michoacano Taquería has delicious food. The burritos are nicely packed and flavorful. The empanadas rellenas are one of a kind in Cental Iowa. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm. Seating is limited and there can be a wait, but strongly suggest you eat in. There is no table service so one needs to order at the cash register then wait for food. The aguas frescas are amazing and they have a big variety to choose from.

This is our all time favorite, by far the best Mexican restaurant around the DSM metro. Authentic food, great staff, and most importantly everything they serve has a vegan substitute as well.

Food at el michoacano is delicious! After trying a couple of their dishes, my standard order is now 1 or 2 al pastor or chorizo tacos and 1 or 2 chorizo sopes. I’m so glad this place was recommended and I make sure to recommend it to others as well 10/10. Have yet to be disappointed. The staff is super friendly too and prices are fair.
