We ordered sopapillas and were really surprised when we received a tortilla chip with chocolate sauce on it. Not at all what a sopapilla should be and it was very over priced. Please consider a new way of making this very simple dessert.

Very delicious and warm food. The service was of great quality and always around if needed. There are no issues with bad habits and a very clean establishment. A good environment for the family and some entertainment to boot. My only hangup was how eerily quiet and low. I guess we would say the “ambiance” just wasn’t quite striking enough for my tastes. However, don’t let this discourage you from trying to eat here!

We tried El Metate on the recommendation of a friend and it has become our new favorite Mexican restaurant. It’s definitely not the closest one to our house, but it’s worth a little extra drive for the good food and good service. Their guacamole is amazing. It is as good or better than my homemade and I think my homemade is something to brag about. I would go there just to eat it – it’s that good. 🙂

Tried to give this place another shot after a long break from it due to quality of food. Not much has changed. Ordered a chopped beef chimichanga. Packed full of tomato, onion, pepper and a couple sprinkles of beef. Sour cream had the consistency of water. Queso was luke warm.

The staff was bothered by the fact we needed a table for 8, despite the fact we had no problem waiting for a table to become available. Our birria tacos were cold and soggy. My sister was served a plate of food that she didn’t order and the server was annoyed when she spoke up about it. My daughter had to ask 3 times for a sprite and then her tacos came out 10 minutes after the rest of us were served (including the plate of food that was remade for my sister). However, the Palomas were delicious, so I guess go there if you want a good drink.

An excellent example of a fine Mexican eatery! Wonderful staff, and they make the best fried ice cream around. I’m partial to tacos, and their shredded beef and chicken tacos are flavorful and very generous. Let’s not forget the chicken tortilla soup, amazing & VERY generous! Hubby likes the fish entrees. Service is always friendly and attentive. Good prices. Highly recommend!

My bean burrito with red sauce was outstanding! My husband had the steak fajita nachos and loved them. I took one star off because our queso was barely lukewarm when it was brought to our table. We didn’t eat it which was super disappointing as we both love queso. Other than that, this place would be 5 stars all day for me.

This is the best carnitas I have had since moving here in 2003. Wonderful crispy edges on the meat. Fantastic spicy sauce, fresh chopped cilantro and onion and creamy refried beans. Less than $20 with leftovers.
