We wanted to try a new peruvian restaurant so found out about this restaurant by internet search and thought of checking it out irrespective of its reviews. The restaurant is small and only had one server or host. We ordered ceviche and it was very very sour. It was very horrible. I ordered the Chica Morada drink and it was really good. We ordered chicken and seafood entre, and they were edible but were not really good. They also gave less rice. I gave 3 stars because I think they can definitely upgrade the food level, but I wouldn’t recommend this place for a good dine in experience.

I eat here all the time, and I love the food. Both carry out and dine in. The dine in is very relaxed, no rush. Food to go is ready in good time. They also have specials posted on the board frequently.

I went there on a Sunday night with my family in a group of ten or so. The restaurant was busy, more people than I personally have ever seen there. Even though we called in our order approximately 25 minutes before we arrived we had to wait about an hour for our food to come and when it did finally arrive my dish of fried tilapia was ok nothing special but the rice was cold. Another person in my group sent their dish back for being cold too. Overall I would say the restaurant is just okay nothing special at all but native Peruvians or anyone that really enjoys Peruvian food may like it more. I would say if you live in the rockville area check it out if not there is probably better options out there for good per

My friend and I usually go to la limeña for ceviche but decided to give it a try in this restaurant, but it was the worst ceviche mixto I’ve had in my life it had no flavor and it was still frozen when they served it. I told the server about it and she said oh ok. I was so mad because I’m not only found it bad but also overpriced. I am definitely not going back to el kaypi.

The food is “top of the line” delicious and tasty. The place is not big enough but you can feel the restaurant atmosphere.

If you are looking for charbroiled chicken, save time and money by going across the street to the other chicken place. I went to Kaypi and had an unpleasant experience. The wait for the food was over 30 minutes. I do not think they charbroil the chicken there. It did not taste fresh. Also, i was told that coleslaw was not a side for the chicken ?! – that is a first as most places have it as a side.

we both got the Ceviche. They did not let it cook in the lime juice before they served it so we had raw fish and some of the clams were still frozen. we told the waitress and she just looked at us without saying anything. We left the food mostly uneaten and she brought us a check with an 18 or 20% tip already added. I will NEVER go back

It is mediocre at best for Peruvian food. Authentic Peruvian food that is cooked right can be the beat experience of your life. El Kaypi cuts corners with there Ceviche Mixto by using a frozen bag of phoney seafood mix that consist of pre-frozen baby squid, imitation crab meat, imitation shrimp. The bag of quick seafood pieces, is added to there Ceviche Mixto and compromises the Ceviche taste. The fact the charge high price for fake Ceviche makes me wonder what else they will cut corners on, food safety and service?. The fish was still raw in some bites of Ceviche a dish I would never order again.

Best Peruvian chicken I’ve ever had. NO BS. Friend plantains and yuca were on point too. Loved the sauces. Randomly walked in here while I got my car inspected next door. Glad I ate here instead of McDonald’s lol.

My wife is Peruvian, so we’ve tried most of the Peruvian places in the area. This place is pretty unassuming from the outside, but the food we’ve had has been excellent. My favorite is the Arroz Chaufa de Pollo — it is really authentic tasting, and the portion size is enormous. It would be enough for two to split, but we’re not normal, so we order an extra one to go!
