El Comal Restaurant truly is a hidden gem in Santa Fe, New Mexico that we stumbled upon during our travels. From the moment we stepped inside, the staff made us feel welcome and ensured that our dining experience was top-notch. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate.

We were just visiting the area and found this restaurant to be a real gem. Definitely a place that locals gather that presents “no one is a stranger” vibe. The food was amazing. It is a local diner, nothing fancy but I say it again the food is so good we ate there a second time. It is busy at night, breakfast was really tasty. Everyone was very friendly.

For lunch, we arrived so hungry. I ordered the tamale plate topped off with two over easy eggs. My wife had the huevos rancheros scrambled. The waitress said that the green chile was milder than the red, so my wife opted for the green. It was hot for her, but good. The other plates were menudo, a bacon breakfast burrito, and a stuffed sopapilla, with a side of chicharones. The refried beans need more taste or flavor. The rice is ok, but the menudo is unlike any of us have had, not worth the experiment of getting it at all. The burrito was good and hearty. The side of chicharones were good, and lastly, the stuffed sopa was good, but again, bland beans.

Tasty Mexican food, no frills joint, mostly a locals hangout. I’m a light eater, so really enjoyed getting inexpensive items off the ala carte menu. Homemade tortilla or Sopapilla-$1.25 each, smothered cheese enchilada – $2…

Wow, this food is delicious! I wasn’t sure what to expect based on reviews, but having eaten New Mexican food for 40 years I’d almost come to prefer just cooking it at home. The chips and salsa started us off with a flavor explosion spicy fine tomato with cumin and more.

Just a small little authentic Mexican restaurant with super delicious food. The portions are large and the prices are low.

I told my cousin that u was driving through Sante Fe and he insisted I try this place. Was a great recommendation. My first time to try pazole and the tamales were to die for. Definitely visiting again.

Came here because it was well rated and within walking distance of my hotel. Was absolutely not disappointed! I had the carne adovada enchilada with sopapilla and it was phenomenal! Will definitely be back before I leave Santa Fe
