The place was very clean. Without asking, they automatically brought chips, salsa, and cheese dip; going above and beyond. My enchilada fajita meal could have been better. It came with cheese, corn tortillas, more cheese, and meat sprinkled on the top with some veggies inside. The entire plate tasted like cheese, needs more flavor, or add enchilada sauce, seasoning. The veggies are already precooked so most of the natural flavor isn’t present. The apple pie was very well presented, came out on a fajitas plate sizzling as the cook poured a buttery sauce over the top of the ice cream and pie. The skillet was over 400 degrees, burning the pie to it. I recommended using a skillet of 220-300 degrees performing the objective without burning the desert. Although the dinner tasted like 1500 calories with all the cheese, and the bottom of the pie grilled to the plate, the staff followed their training. Their beverages were the largest I’ve seen. I enjoyed my visit and left my advice to the staff. Hopefully, they can make some adjustments to crank out a 5 star. That dessert presentation was awesome, I haven’t seen anything like that in Abilene. And to be honest, I can’t wait to return, to either try new plates, offer advice, or see what they can do.

My wife and I ate here tonight and I must say, it was very good. It tasted authentic El Chico like it did when I was kid over 30 years ago. The staff and Kayla were very polite and friendly. If you haven’t tried it lately, I strongly urge Abilene and those visiting to stop and give them a try again or even for their first time. We will definitely be back! Glad you are still here in town.

Just had a great meal at El Chico’s! May husband got tamales, I got enchiladas with chicken,bacon,mushrooms and a cream sauce on top! Just enough kick to make it enjoyable. Juanita our waitress was very attentive! She was quick refilling tea and asking if we needed anything. Will go again!

We had.the fajitas and Monterrey Chicken. Both were delicious. So wonderful to find a Mexican Food restaurant that gives you not only salsa with your free chips ( the nice thin kind) but queso as well and replenishes them as needed. Attentive waitress and staff.

Ordered the Beef fajita plate and received 5 peaces of small meat. Then the tortilla were nasty store bought tortillas Not their homemade ones they use to have. Asked the manager on duty if this was correct amount of meat for a $15 order of fajita and she said yes. I then asked when they changed tortillas and she said just recently. But on a good note the chato beans were good and the service was excellent as always. But probably won’t be back for a while again if this keeps up last time it was my stake witch I don’t get anymore as well

Wow. Where to start! I know, the most simplest item…..one of the sides that come with your entree, ready…the ” ranch style beans”. Folks, all I can say is these are the best tasting and fully satisfying bowl of beans I’ve ever eaten in my life. AND THIS IS JUST A SIDE DISH! I am not kidding! The food is incredible. One of, if not my new favorite spots for gourmet authentic Mexican quisine. The restaurant and bar’s atmosphere is wonderfully alluring. Try El CHICO’S cafe, and find your new all time best choice for your Tex-;Mex experience.

Always have an excellent experience. The staff is always on top of refilling chips and drinks. The place is always clean and they seat you in a timely manner unless it’s the Sunday church crowd but the wait time is still not bad.
