One of my favorite places! Been eating the same entree (soft cheese enchiladas) for over 50 years. The same family still prepares the food.

Love it when I can swing by El Charro’s in Sulphur Springs. I love the soft cheese dinner, and I start with Shredded chicken nachos. The staff are super kind and always remember me. The old booths are like stepping back in time.

With this restaurant you’ll either love it or you’ll hate it. For my family and I, we love it! We have been regulars here for years. I get the soft cheese dinner every time. There’s really no cheese enchilada out there like it. If you’re going for the first time definitely try out their soft cheese dinner. Love this place and will continue to eat here for as long as they’re still up and running

Bright Smile as we arrived. Food hot and in a timely matter. Coffee was hot delicious! I will be back!

You’ll either love it, or dislike it. Locals have been enjoying El Charro food for a long time. We had the special, taco, Tamale, cheese enchiladas, rice & beans…. Very good food, bland as is traditional Mexican food, spice it to taste with sauces. The menu doesn’t offer a large variety of foods, no chili rellanos, etc that you see on other menus, but what we had was authentic and delicious. Chips were fresh & salsa was on point. No frills here, just good food, served fast and fresh, by hard working lady’s who run their butt off to keep your table happy. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. Overall a good meal and experience. We will return!

At the start everything was okay we got our drinks quickly and correctly but our chips were stale and the salsa was literally tomato sauce and peppers of some kind it was understaffed and slow

It is among, if not the oldest Mexican restaurant in Sulphur Springs Texas. They have parking, front and rear so there’s always a spot open. The menu is not overwhelming just straightforward old school meals. The food is good, not overpriced and the portions are generous yet not to big. The service during our visit was adequate, we’ve had better but we’ve had much worse. It’s located just a couple of blocks east of downtown. It’s worth finding if you like old school Text-Mex.

Good Mexican food for the area. Most people either like this place or don’t like the food. The Mexican food is different then most of the Mexican food of the Sulphur Springs area. I like it because it reminds me of West Texas Mexican Food which is different than Northeast Texas. I only give 3 star because it is not a welcoming environment. Too many signs at the door that states No to this and No to that. They need to have a more positive attitude about their business and customers and this place would be a 4 to 5 star place.
