I want to frame the three-star rating as nothing was objectively bad, but nothing was noteworthy either. The house margarita was served in a pint glass and was as weak as you would expect from the pictures. Prices were great though, with plenty of options. My chile relleno was super water-logged and got cold faster than the rest of my food. In hindsight I should have ordered a cheese enchilada to avoid overlading on not-very-seasoned ground beef. But, at the end of the day I was full and didn’t absolutely hate anything, and didn’t feel like we overpaid.

El Charro has been a favorite of mine in the H’burg area since college—I almost always go for the Chicken Enchiladas Rancheros. I was sad to see that after not having been there for around four years the dish no longer comes with their fantastic refried beans and rice—regardless their food is the best Mexican around with high quality ingredients as well as fantastic and friendly service. When you eat-in or carry out your meal comes along with a generous portion of tortilla chips and great tasting homemade salsa. Also the enchiladas for just $10 come with quacamole—most places charge extra—even without the rice and refried beans still a stellar quality and value—thanks El Charro I love eating here!!

I wish I had read the reviews before I went there. I was seated immediately and was brought water and chips and salsa. As another reviewer said the salsa was subpar. It was more like tomato sauce than salsa. There were no chunks of tomato to be found. A runner brought my food quickly and I soon found out why it came so fast. The food was barely warm, I was very hungry, so I ate it anyway. The waitress did not come back to check on me until I was almost done eating. I got a burrito which was not anything to write home about. There was barely any sauce on the burrito and what was on it was bland. Generally the burrito tasted bland. Unmelted cheese sprinkled on top. We stay at the hotel nearby when visiting family but I will find another place to eat next time we come.

First time here, and I loved it. I got a burrito deluxe, and chips and salsa. For 3 adults, it was 45 dollars, which I thought was a good price for the amount of food we got. Well worth a visit!
