I have loved this place since I was a kid. My parents eat here regularly. I went in a few days ago with my boyfriend. Kid free finally! We had the worst service ever.! The waitress acted as if we were an inconvenience for being there. Meanwhile she was laughing and having a great time with everyone else. I work with a lot of tourists and ALWAYS recommend them. I will never go back nor will I be recommending this place again. I was ready for a kid free nice dinner and instead got our plates in front of us and was not once asked for a refill of our drinks or even how the food was. The one waitress that has worked there for years is wonderful but this waitress really ticked me off. I am a great tipper and always courteous and nice. NO EXCUSE FOR HER BEHAVIOUR!

I ate a stuffed sopapilla. It was very good. I had them smother with their red chili on one side, green chili on the other side. Both chili’s were very tasty. The server was amazing, I wished I could remember her name so I could give her kudos. She was very attentive and accurate. Everyone in our party agreed their dishes were great as well as the service.

This Mexican Food restaurant is a favorite of the local people here. The food is prepared authentically and is absolutely delicious. The restaurant has recently changed locations and is now conveniently located next to our University. The staff is very friendly and the food is well priced. Great value!

We stopped here while traveling. The lady at the front counter was very rude. She kept rushing us to look at the menu. It was 2:35 and she told us they close at 3:00 we would need to hurry. We ask if we could eat inside she said no it would have to be to go. She got our chips out of the bin with her bare hands, no glove. This was during covid-19. When we left we ask for forks she said they didn’t have any. When I got out to my rv and opened my order it looked like slop with red sauce all over it. I could tell it was wrong because I ordered a cheese enchilada and I could see beef in it. We payed over $30.00 for this. I never leave bad reviews but this was unacceptable!

Nice restuarant… same name, good food, different location! Back in the day, the old Sonic drive in was there… you can still see the car stalls in the concrete outside! A must for local New Mexican cuisine taste!

Visited El Charro with 3 other people for a quick lunch. I’d heard really good things about their food. First, we stood in the entrance way for 10 minutes trying to get acknowledged by the staff to be sat. No one would even look at us. The 2 waitresses were majorly overwhelmed and the cook was behind. Finally, a table was cleared and one waitress nodded in our direction. Then promptly ignored us for 30 minutes. No menus, no drink orders, not even a “I’ll be right with you”. I get it, they were overwhelmed with the 5 tables or so and backed up orders, but really? After 30 minutes, all of us were so hungry, we left. Again, we might as well have been invisible.

I have always loved this restaurant. The food is great and people friendly. My recommendations if you like burritos are the Roberto and Coors specials, or if you’re feeling very hungry the Lujan special. I enjoy the Sapo special as well a hamburger steak with fried potatoes and beans smothered in chili.
