Eischen’s Bar in Okarche, Oklahoma is the oldest bar in the State of Oklahoma! Eischen’s Saloon was established in 1896 by Peter Eischen and was open until Statehood and Prohibition. Eischen’s Bar opened shortly after the end of Prohibition by Nick & Jack Eischen, son and grandson of Peter Eischen.
The massive back bar, a vital part of the history of Eischen’s was hand carved in Spain in the early 1800s. During the Gold Rush it was shipped to California. It was lost in time until it was brought to Okarche in 1950 for the enjoyment of all who stopped by Eischen’s. On January 21, 1993, fire destroyed Eischen’s and one of the things remaining is a small part of the antique back bar.

You get a while cut up fried chicken and it is 1 of the best fried chicken I’ve had, and definitely the best in Oklahoma. The fried okra is also the best I’ve had, crispy and tasty. I’ll definitely make the drive there again.

Eischen’s is an Oklahoma staple. We visit a few times a year and I assure you we’d visit more if it was closer to home. The chicken, the okra, and the nachos are delicious. We always get a pitcher of beer to enjoy as well. Sometimes the service can be rough, but that comes with the crowd and I wouldn’t take a star away for that. Go give it a try and get the nachos to start!

I don’t know if this place is a local secret but this is the best fried chicken I’ve ever had! Really old school and very traditional in the best way. This place was slammed! Not an empty seat in there and apparently it’s like that every night. I can honestly see why. If you are the type that has to have forks and plates and can’t get a little messy while eating than this isn’t the place for you. Although I would still say give it shot! Here your plate is some placement paper and that’s about it! They give you chicken and you just go to town on it! Such a cool experience and loved every minute of it. Everyone’s laughing and eating and having such a great time. The restaurant as a whole just gives you giant family reunion vines while grandmas cooking in the chicken. Amazing restaurant and would highly recommend coming here!

The best and most iconic fried chicken. Pro tip: Split a pitcher of beer, fried okra and nachos too. Attentive service and antique atmosphere – will always visit when in Oklahoma.

We were actually at the restaurant and as always good food. The only drawback is come prepared to wait for your food if you order chicken. It is made after you order so always fresh and hot. Never disappointed here. Be aware: cash is better for savings. Credit/debit card transactions are priced for you to pay Plus tax already figured in their prices.

Ive been going here for years and the fried chicken is hard to beat unless you got grandma’s recipe and her touch this is the next best thing! They could use a few more servers but the food is great and freshly made…
