This afternoon at lunchtime I was given a friendly greeting by Liz at the Hotel Weyanoke front desk who directed me to the entrance into Effingham’s to the right. From there LaShanna immediately offered a friendly greeting. I asked to sit at the bar and ordered a Classic Chicken Caesar salad with no croutons and iced tea with lemon. The vibrant salad greens came out beautifully, and the grilled chicken on top was so fresh it still had steam coming off of it! The Dijon Vinaigrette dressing option sounded delicious, so I requested it. It definitely tasted fresh and had just the right tang! Do you enjoy eating high quality fresh food cooked to order? I would definitely recommend trying Effingham’s!

What a lovely new restaurant in Farmville! The renovations to this restaurant area and the rest of the Hotel Weyanoke are very nice. The food here is great, and it’s always nice to have more non-chain restaurants to choose from. I tried three of the pizzas, and look forward to coming back and trying more. I also had the dessert calzone, which I would highly recommend!

We came for breakfast and had the eggs Benedict, breakfast sandwich, and omelette. The hollandaise sauce was delicious and everything came out nice and warm

Always enjoy eating here. Nice wine and cocktail list. Food is elevated classics, nice but not fancy. Easy to get a few dishes to split. The pizza has a wonderful crispy crust.

We came into town to visit family. Traveling through Virginia with a dairy allergy is not easy, but finding this place certainly helped! They have vegan options on the menu, and they were very accommodating. The food was great, and even my kids managed to find something they enjoyed. The staff was very welcoming, too. It made a tough trip a little bit easier, and I really appreciate that.

Across the street from a college, a young staff is expected. Service was friendly, but not well versed in the menu details. The black olives are kalamata, which was a nice surprise. The nduja is nothing at all like sausage or pepperoni. Well, it is a bit spicy and pork based and greasy – so maybe something like pepperoni, but nah. The pizza itself is hearty and well topped, but expect a bit of a wait if other guests have not been served. Pizza was delicious cold the next morning!

Would of liked to eat at this establishment, but the hosts on today’s date gave away our table as we sat in the lounge waiting. She could clearly see us and when I went to ask how much longer she said they gave the table away because of the baby at the bar and it was a safety issue. Funny.. l had a baby also and she offered us the bar seats. Hosts never told us it would be a longer wait or even aplogized.

I have a large family of 10 (7 children, my mother-in-law, my wife and myself) so I was hesitant to put that kind of stress on the staff. However, the staff did an extremely awesome job, suggesting that we use the high top center dining area and managed to keep up with my son that tries his best to drink all the lemonade in the place. Bringing my family to stay at Weyanoke and enjoying Farmville for a quick overnight was such a great idea. I’m in Farmville often and always enjoy the stays here at the Weyanoke and eating at Effingham’s, but it’s always on business and I don’t think I’ve ever got to truly appreciate all of what this place has to offer. Thank for having us!!!
